I bought an ST2000DM008 Seagate Barracuda hard drive listed as brand new on their site, and as soon as I got it, I hooked it up to my system and queried the drive. It reported power on hours of 37 hours, and it had been powered on 26 times. It did not come in the factory sealed anti static bag that you have to rip open. In was in an anti static bag that was taped shut with a paper sticker. These are NOT new drives. They are low hour pulls out of working systems and should be listed as such and at a much lower price! False advertising!
UPDATE!
Server Supply contacted me, and after some research at their facility, they realized the drive that they sent me was indeed used. They processed an RMA for me to get a full refund on the used drive that I received. They also honored the price and sent me a new drive at the same price. When I received the drive, it was indeed in a factory sealed anti-static bag, and when I opened it and plugged the drive in and queried it, it indeed only had one power on, because I just powered it on for the first time, and 0 power on hours.
One problem with their RMA is that it is only good for 10 days, and I wasn't going to send the drive back until I had received and tested the replacement drive. This RMA will expire before they receive the drive. If that ends up causing a problem, I'll be back in here to revise this review again.
The RMA was processed, and I got my full refund. My faith in this company has...
Read moreI placed an order for a 61.44TB U.2 SSD (around 7K with tax, shipping). I got an email from them saying that "The Bank" can not verify the billing address or shipping address. I called my credit card issuer who said they didn't see any transaction request and to try again. I called them, and they said in fact it was THEM, not the bank that rejected my purchase due to the high value nature and that I requested they ship to a residential address.
They said I could either setup a wire to pay for it (which seems like an odd thing to do for a SSD) or submit a paper credit card request, including picture of the front/back of my driver's license (which has to match addresses to current address), and front and back pictures of my credit card.
I have done this in the past, but order sizes were much higher from other suppliers (like 100K - 250K range). I asked where I can securely upload information, they asked me to just 'email it'.
For a company dealing with businesses, it's a bit odd they don't have a secured pathway for verification. For anyone purchasing higher value items to a residential address (home office, content creators, etc), probably stay away from this company as they are not particularly setup effectively for 'consumer' transactions.
Anyway, I found quite a few other sellers at similar price points. I hope the...
Read moreVery poor customer service!!! I ordered a part for a server on the 25th of September. I called on the 27th of September when I saw that the money had been withdrawn from my account but the part had not yet shipped. I was assured that the part was shipping out on that day. I then called on the 30th of September after seeing on the website that the part still had not shipped. I was told in writing in an email that the part would ship today. When inquiring as to why the part didn't ship on the 27th and that they should overnight the part to me at their expense. I was told that this wasn't possible. Pressing the issue as to why, I was then hung up on. Finally, I called back and spoke to a supposed "manager" at the company and told that the part wat not in stock and, therefore, would not ship. She went on further to say that she was cancelling my order.
This company has absolutely no problem taking your money in a very expeditious manner. However, they take no responsibility for their actions (in this case bad actions), are extremely rude, have no problem lying to you and do not understand the meaning of the phrase "customer service". Under no circumstances should any business or person deal with this company for...
