After over 5 years of unreliable internet service and numerous monthly rate increases I decided to give DFT Lightspeed a try. I have only been using the service a few days but it is the fastest and most reliable internet I have ever used.
The installation was a pretty simple process and the installer (Kevin) showed up on time during my appointment window. Before drilling any holes Kevin actually took some time to make sure my wifi would reach every room in the house, this was definitely a need as my former wifi had several dead zones in the home. I liked the fact that he took time to make sure I would be happy after he left instead of just thinking about how easy installation would be.
I decided to go with the managed wifi service as fiber internet is new to me. I asked for a few settings to be adjusted and everything was changed to my requests before the installer left with just a quick phone call. My wireless speeds are the fastest I have ever had in my home and I have been able to flawlessly switch to a streaming TV service.

   Read moreEver since they went to fiber they shut off your service if you are less than 1 month late. Even if the bill wasn’t for the full monthly amount due to over payment the previous month. Then they want to charge a service fee for turning it back on. What a racket!! They’ll gladly charge the credit card on file over the phone but refuse to sign you up for autopay over the phone. That requires a paper form with your CC info to be mailed or dropped off. After payment, they take forever to turn the service back on. I work from home and will miss work and business meetings because of this. Maybe I should bill them for my lost time which is well over the $40 that was owed.
Service speed does not meet the ratings but they charge the full price. They will offer to upsell you to a faster service but why pay for more when you are already getting 20-30 MBps less than you pay for.

   Read moreI would avoid DFT at all costs!! They talked us into a yearly contract for IT services for my business that cost thousands a year, and there was no way to track what they actually did. We asked multiple times for monthly updates on what work was performed, and they couldn't even give us that.We had several other issues that we brought to their attention and they were never fixed. When we canceled our contract. which we paid in full at the beginning of the year, they sent us a bill afterwards for a minimal amount of money. When I asked if they could use the thousands of unused dollars for the second half of the year on our contract, I was denied. The techs are friendly and try to help, same with the customer service agents, but it is obvious the owners care nothing about their customers and only seek to squeeze as much money as they can out of you.
