I've been a nurse of almost 19 years and been an agency nurse 16 years For about 2 years I've traveled from Albany often times a week to staff Glensfalls Center by choice not contracted because it gives the sense of "where one be it staff or resident/belongs" That place where everybody does know your name and they are always glad you came! Be it staff/residents/visitors. Amanda C. Administrator, Amanda L DON, Katie H. ADON prided their mission of educating staff and also residents that could comprehend so they had their own self advocacy independence and informed choices . Uplifting, building their own as in advancement opportunities for staff wanting more indepth positions when suited. Realizing everyone has a day and encourages and teaches all to never personalize the job and stay focused on what we were truly called to do which was deliver high quality care. The compassion given to staff, residents, families was unsurpassed making it an easy choice to onboard as staff and make the commute easily. Every voice was heard and valued. There was an invisible bar that all was aware was set high to ensure safe prudent care. I've shared as many laughs, hugs, tears, jokes, stories there with staff/residents/families as I did at home. I would also work time to time in Albany still and share the word of the movement they were projecting at Glensfalls Center for others to model. Do the best you can, help one another, never be above getting help, give dignity, use best practice, continue to grow, remember everyone has a day, we are all as strong as our fellow link so form a tight bond. Just breathe and again for staff/residents/families trust you are right were you belong...where all lives truly do matter. The culture in the place is passionately changing with newer administration and staff aboard and they're all movers and shakers. From leadership special recognition to Joelle, Tiffany and Amber supervisors. Kelly UM, Laura Activities director, Crystal assistant administrator, Robin receptionist, Eleyna unit clerk of rehab and the Admission RN Sally. Also a floor nurses out of many that really stood out were Christina B, and Meghan on rehab. Renee Q, Michelle, Kalondra, and CNA Kiesha, Mikey and Wendy on overnights and Liz on day shift, also Chasity the housekeeper. several others too many to remember just know this place is one of a kind you won't regret working there or sending your love ones they exceed the Centers Healthcare organization mission in all...
Read moreDo you hate your elderly relative? Do you love neglectful, inattentive, rude staff? Do you love waiting for even the most basic things? Then this place is the place for you! Send them here! /s
To be serious, my grandfather stayed here for five days for rehab, not even a week following a surgery, a fall, and various medical issues that made him need round the clock intensive care to do simple things like use the bathroom and shower.
The staff from the very beginning were extremely neglectful. They made him wait hours for water and basic attention, including help to go to the bathroom. They were rude to my grandmother, telling her multiple times that they would “ask” the nurse to do their jobs, as well as sometimes even respond that “it wasn’t their jobs!”
He ended up waiting an absurd amount of time for a cup of water, to which my grandmother just went and did it herself, including helping him to the bathroom. He didn’t have a television remote, nothing to do, etc and was being completely ignored. But wait, it gets much worse.
My grandfather has a ostomy bag, and in an extreme case of elder abuse, they let it just leak all over him and his bedsheets. This wasn’t a one off accident that was cleaned up in ten minutes. They knowingly let this elderly man lay in his own feces for HOURS to the point he has a rash from it. They didn’t even clean him up, my grandmother wiped him off, and that was the last straw, they decided to take him out of there and were THREATENED by staff.
Yes, THREATENED. They were told the police would be called, (social services as well for the abuse of an elder LOL), they would have to sign things, even though my grandfather wasn’t forced to be there. My dad helped my grandmother and they refused to sign anything, as well as be told they would have to pay for the remainder of the 21 days he was supposed to be there.
Long story short, the level of care in this facility is abysmal, and the staff are either severely undertrained and understaffed or downright cruel and negligent. Or a mix of both.
Send your relative literally anywhere but this place. 0/5. Center, your job is to care for people who can’t care for themselves, you should be ashamed and utterly embarrassed for how you treat disabled elderly people and their families.
And if understaffing is a problem, then hire more people and pay them fairly.
Terrible place, terrible experience for my...
Read moreI was so skeptical about my family member going into any rehab but he needed Rehabilitation. I drove right over to go as soon he arrived. The Glen Falls Center was surprisingly Very Clean. I asked a nurse for assistance in finding him and she turned out to be a Evening Nurse Supervisor. She was so warm and kind. She introduced me to the staff. They all were so kind. He's been there now over 1 month now. I've popped in at different times and shifts. I've never been so thankful for this Place. It's ALWAYS Clean and no matter the day the staff had had, they've been nothing but Extremely Kind and Helpful, ready to answer any questions or address any concerns I've had. Now my family member is asking to stay because of the quality of Care he's received. I Just Can't THANK THEM ENOUGH for their hard work to care for each and every individual as their own family member that I've observed during the many shifts that I've visited randomly. I've had nothing but respect and Such Genuine Kindness and ABSOLUTE PROFESSIONALISM and THE HARD WORK they provide EVERY Patient I've observed them caring for while I was behind the scene. Again I've been there various times and random visits. I've never caught anything or anyone out of place. They're the VERY BEST compared to the many NURSING HOME Facilities I've had to visit Friends or Family members. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!!!! I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO VISIT AND SEE FOR THEMSELVES.....I LOVE All the Staff and want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my Heart ❤️, ...
