After a long day of travel and being quite hungry, it was recommended that I stop by for a cold brew and BLT. It was the afternoon on 5/29 when I stopped in. There was only one girl working who clearly did not want to be there. She shouted something quickly about being either cashless or that I needed cash; either was fine with me anyways. She was across the store yelling to me, somewhat indecipherable. I was friendly, explaining that it was recommended for me to stop in for the BLT. I allowed her the opportunity to make recommendations or provide some sort of customer service. Zero. Instead, she stared, seemingly annoyed that I was looking at the menu. She stepped away acting impatient. I only needed a minute as it was my first time! And, the store was empty. I asked about the cold brew that was written on the board, but apparently she did not have any. She then yelled that there were no Everything Bagels yet there was a bagel in that bin. I pointed this out, but she retorted, "NO, that's garlic" - seemingly annoyed. She was quick in making a really great sandwich, but when she rang up the order I instinctively grabbed my credit card. She exclaimed, "No, we can ONLY take Cash." I respectfully apologized and handed her cash. She proceeded to say, "Yeah, so that's why I said we can only take cash when you walked in." And she gave a memorably sarcastic smirk. That was my unfortunate, last impression. Food was very good. Service was quick. Customer service was not a priority. Regardless, I wish her well and hope things improve for her and the business on the...
Read moreI have been to all three Cool Beans locations many times over the past several years and have enjoyed my experiences in these cafes until now. My experience today at the Glens Falls location was more than a set back but a lost customer. Upon entering the empty cafe I was not welcomed at all by the employee behind the counter. In fact, she never even looked up from behind the register she appeared to be cashing out. Instead the first words that came from her after I greeted her was “You are going to have to hurry up and order because we are closing soon.” When I apologized and asked her when she was closing she stated 2PM. (Note: It was 1:23PM). I then attempted to order a smoothie off the overhead board which she quickly stated “We don’t make that anymore.” I thought it was strange how it wasn’t related to a missing ingredient but simply due to the fact the menu items on the chalkboards were actually painted and couldn’t be erased. (Maybe they could use some black tape over it?). When I asked her what smoothies they do make, she then just told me to name another one. So I did and quickly found out she didn’t have that one either (nor any smoothie off that particular board). Given I was done attempting to order, my son chimes in to “quickly” order a sandwich and he was given a fast “No, we don’t make that one either.” Wow, we decided to politely take our...
Read moreThere is only one reason I rated this the way I did. The women that work there are so sweet helpful and very accommodating. The bagels are incredible fresh and amazing. It’s a beautiful establishment. I however gave this rating based on the interaction I had with a gentleman (I believe may have been the owner? I know he makes the bagels for sure). I had gone there yesterday to get to get Jalapeño Cheddar bagels but it was later in the afternoon so there weren’t any. So I ORDERED a half dozen for the following day to be picked up at 10 am. When I got there the young woman brought them out to me followed by the man that I felt gave me attitude about getting a “large quantity of specialty bagels” in the future I need to order them a day in advance. I explained at the VERY least TWICE that I ordered them the day before and he repeatedly told me big quantities need to be the day before. He was not in any way nice about it…I apologized but it was truly ridiculous as I had done nothing wrong. If the bagels themselves, coffee and the remarkable women that work there were what I based my ratings on they would have received a...
