Crate & Barrel Outlet — Local services in Town of Riverhead

Yesterday, I was verbally assaulted by the store manager in the Crate and Barrel Outlet store in Riverhead. I was there to return a pillow sham that I had believed was in the wrong package and hence the wrong size. It was labeled "standard sham" but inside was a king sham. Becuase I didn't have a receipt, the store clerk had to call over the manager.

After waiting a good 10 minutes for the manager to arrive, he looked at the store clerk and said, "no returns without original packaging." I then realized this was likely my mistake, since only one sham was in each package, I had likely picked up one standard and one king.

As I was explaining this to him, he turned and walked away. I said, "Excuse me, I was speaking to you." He whipped around and verbally admonished me, "Well, I was NOT speaking to YOU. I was speaking to my employee who has asked for my assistance."

I went to explain that this had been my error at which point, he landed into me with a verbal attack saying that he was in no way addressing me and I had no right to address him.

I have to feel that had I been a man, I would not have been treated this way. I was so shaken, I began to cry and had to leave the store and then came back to retreive my belongings.

I'm a long-time customer of Crate and Barrel but have never been shamed and verbally assaulted by a store employee. I don't know his name, but I am filing an official complaint with Crate and Barrel Corporate. It was clear that other store employees were disturbed by his behavior as well. I was truly traumatized by the verbal attack that was in no way provoked as I was admitting my own...

i couldn’t wait to register for my bridal shower here….and less than a year later, everythingggggg i got from here has fallen apart, literally after 1-3 uses. absolutely insane. container covers, whisk and spoons, i returned the same product 2 times bc it broke in oven after ONE use, BOTH TIMES and i just gave up, and then more and more things kept falling apart..now i’m at the point of having nothing left in my kitchen that i received as gifts from here and i haven’t even celebrated my first wedding anniversary yet. i’m so upset and disapointed ..i don’t even have the energy to do something about all the items that are actual garbage....
