If there was zero stars that would have been my choice. I'm 72 and have been using Hannaford forever. I now use Hannaford To Go using a NBT debit card for the convenience as I work long hours and my wife is disabled. I never had a problem because I always had a high balance on the card when I ordered groceries. On March 8th I had a card balance of only $225.00 and the card was declined at the store for a $115.00 grocery order. That's because Hannaford puts a so called hold on the card over the phone when you place the order. This immediately registers as a purchase with the bank, reducing the card balance. When I went to pick up the order they processed the card again for $115.00. So as far as the bank is concerned I was paying $230.00 with only $225.00 available. The bank said that even though Hannaford places what they call a hold, it registers as a purchase which Hannaford releases in a couple of days. So even though it gets released, Hannaford is charging me TWICE for my order at the time of pickup. Once as a so called hold, then again when I arrive to pick the order up. This needs to be resolved or I will need to switch to Price Chopper where they DO NOT do this type of a transaction. It is very embarrassing to have a card declined and not being able to pay for your groceries due to Hannaford charging my card...
Read moreHi, I’ve been to this store before many times and always had a good experience. However today I called at 10:43 a.m. to order a sandwich platter for tomorrow. I was told by the worker on the phone that his manager was gone and he didn’t know the answer, so I should call back. When I called back, I was told by the woman who picked up that I was mistaken and I had called a different store and had never spoken to anyone and my 24 hours was up so they couldn’t help me anyways. I have it on my phone as speaking to someone at the same number at 10:43 and I respect the 24 hour rule which is why I TRIED to call in advance, but I don’t think it’s fair to give your customers instructions and then when they respect those instructions to tell them they’re out of luck. If you don’t have enough bread, just say that. Don’t act like I never spoke to someone when I know full well I did. Also, they didn’t even ask when I was ordering for and had no idea. I could have been ordering it for dinner tomorrow which would be well within the...
Read moreI am very disappointed in the Hannaford on Altamont Avenue in Schenectady, NY. The prices are more expensive than my usual store. I needed only one item, but as you know that does not happen. I spent much more than I expected. But i was most disappointed with the cashier. She did not greet me although I said hello, she just looked at me. The only thing she said was green button when I asked which button for credit. I said goodbye with no response from her. Also the bagger was involved in a conversation with the bagger next to him and he was too busy talking to that person to even hear my thank you. I used to do my Mothers shopping there because she used the pharmacy where we always were treated nicely with respect. My Mother has passed away, and needless to say i will NOT shop in your...
