My grandfather is a disabled Army veteran and recovering from a stroke he had a few months ago. He still struggles walking and keeping his balance so my family takes him to a store each day to push a shopping cart. The cart helps him keep his balance while he walks. Tonight we went to Shoe Dept in Rotterdam NY. Papa pushes the cart while my mother and I shopped. I made my purchase and my mom asked if we could borrow the cart to walk more through the mall and we'd return it on our way back to our car. The cashier agreed but was immediately cut off by the manager who said the cart could not leave the store. (Seriously?!) I thought she was kidding with us until she went on about how many carts are lost because people don't return them. My grandfather got angry (and rightfully so!) and left the cart at the register and told the manager she could keep it. My mom was also angry by the inconsideration of this woman but followed my grandfather out of the store since he no longer had anything to keep him stable. I politely tried again to explain our plains for walking and that we'd return the cart but I was interrupted by the manager when she put her hand up and said "just take it" in a snarky tone. By this time my mom found another store's cart in the hallway and they were ready to continue with our walk. Shoe Dept got to keep their cart tonight.
I am appalled by the inconsideration and rudeness of this manager. She was rude to her employee by cutting her off. She was inconsiderate to a disabled veteran who plainly needs assistance walking. And she was rude to me by interrupting me. By her leadership and representation of Shoe Dept, clearly this is a company that is more concerned with the location of their shopping carts than accommodating a disabled veteran and paying customer that asked to borrow the cart for a few minutes to take a walk. I will not be shopping at this store...
Read moreI've been to this store twice and each time with a particular need in mind I was able to find it here. Though it is apparently one of the mall's anchor stores it's not much bigger than other Shoe Department locations over visited in different malls. But still Shoe Department is known for its large size in general (bigger than payless for example) and this one is no exception. It has a nice wide range of selections in shoes and different brands all of varying qualities, but the purchases I have made from here haven't disappointed me yet. The employees here are always helpful and knowlegable too which is definitely a plus for a shoe store. I think this is one of the better stores this mall has to offer and if there is anything in particular you are looking for there's a great chance they'll have it. It's worth a trip there, try it if...
Read moreUsually go here to get a pair of sneakers. I like the cross trainers because oof the aggressive tread pattern they have on them. But because of my foot being narrow I can not find any as they have only had Wide Widths. Maybe they will start thinking of getting more of a selection in, instead of so many Wide Widths. I do hope they get more selections in and a narrower width with them. I do not like to buy online as the sneakers do run different. I do like to shop at this store and will hope they will start...
