Visited today with my young daughter to do the Luck box craft that was offered today. We went for that sole purpose. Upon arriving, there was a sign indicating the craft and said Take and Make. We took the bag and walked around the store. We realized that the Luck box was not in the bag. I asked an employee at the front, he said he was new and didn't know, so asked this other employee- he came over and was so rude. Pointed over in the direction of where the craft was, in a room I didn't even know existed. In the past, the crafts were set up in the front of the store or in the kids craft section. I mentioned that, and he again was nasty telling me it was in that room. Never walked us over. We had to find it ourselves. We enter the stuffy, small room and there is no employee and no craft. Other people are decorating boxes and said that man just gave them a box. I went back out and had to again find an employee. A female cashier had no idea and called over this same person again. I asked him where the boxes and craft materials were and he said he had to get one and told me to wait one sec. He made us wait forever while he talked to other employees and walked around the store. He then handed me a box. He had 2, I took 1, he said oh you only want one! - in an angry tone. I said yes I have 1 child. He did not give me any craft materials. Just a random box. This couldn't have been the craft. Nothing looked like it did on the sign at all. Nothing from from the movie Luck. No craft materials, just a few markers on the table. The Michael's advertisement said "We will be showing you how to make your very own Luck box!" Completely untrue at this store! We were treated so poorly by this particular male employee. I can't believe this is how you treat your customers! My daughter was so upset, we left and she burst into tears. She wanted to do this craft so badly, but instead got treated like dirt by this horrible man. I wish I got his name but he was wearing a baseball cap while working... I will NEVER visit this Michael's...
Read moreWas in the portchester area on vacation with my family doing some shopping and caught a movie at the AMC. My daughter who loves art and crafts and likes going to Michaels and saw the store and wanted to go in to buy some items. First there was no associates available to help as the location was confusing to shop. The worse experience however was when we went to purchase our items not only for our daughter but some other things we picked up as well including 4 glass scented candles. The cashier asked if we wanted the candles wrapped. Being we purchase and love candles for our home and have them wrapped to protect them from breaking we said âyesâ. So expecting the cashier to wrap them for us, instead he hands the paper to us and we had to wrap them ourselves. Completely unacceptable and poor customer service. I was embarrassed and my wife was extremely upset by this. Filed a complaint with corporate. One of the stores âcustomer experience managersâ called with the usual spiel about how âthis is not the level of service we give our customers or what we expect and I will be having a coaching moment with this associateâ. Mind you I have over 20 plus years experience as a GM and store manager at high volume retail stores and I know what my expectation is at my stores and this wasnât it. Iâm also aware of the excuses managers make to try to correct this issues instead of setting the expectations from hire so they donât happen at all. I will not be returning to this location despite the managers attempt(his name was Majesty) for me to come back and he will make it up to me. A first poor experience is the last for me and my family anywhere. Especially when you embarrass my wife.
You never know who can walk into your store and everyone deserves the same...
Read moreI loved this store, I really did, since it opened ages ago when I was a TEEN. NowâŚ. Thatâs dramatically changed.
1st: there is never a soul on the floor to help unless itâs one person whoâs fluctuating from the cash register to the floor
2nd: their store manager isâŚterrible. And thatâs where this review begins..
Today, was the final straw on me ignoring this issue. She was actually a manager of mine at another retailer nearly 14yrs ago. She recognizes me, and goes out of the way to not acknowledge my existence when there, and trust me - I am usually very happy about that, again, UNTIL TODAY.
I was standing at the cash register while sheâs helping with a return or something, so I can pick up my online order. I wait, I wait, and she walks away - having to physically pass IN FRONT of me, and doesnât utter a word. BUT then tells the two women behind me that self check out is open (they needed to pay cash so they needed her) and she stood directly behind me, still ignoring me.
I see my order on the table, so I just took it - with her watching, standing behind me, not uttering a single word. What if I was dishonest and just took all the orders there? Itâs absurd to behave in such a fashion just to ignore someone.
Iâd like to say Iâm surprised since thatâs highly irresponsible, childish and rude - but Iâm not surprised at all. Frankly, itâs a loss for the store since the assistant manager is a very kind and it truly takes one bad apple to destroy the whole trees health.
Canât wait to see how Iâm treated after...
