Ended up taking 6 months to âserviceâ 2 watches. Used to be local but moved to the city. Remembered using Genterâs in the past and thought it would be a good option because he said he could just ship it. Very difficult to get on the phone to see what the status was, had to call several times roughly every 3-4 weeks. After 5 months, he said it was finished and would ship it to me as we discussed. I then chased every week for the final month to see why it hasnât shipped yet⌠âthe post office isnât open before or after work so he canât get to itâ?? The store is 3 minutes walk to the post officeâŚ
I finally decide to make the 2 hour journey to see what was going on. I arrive and he states it will be the price we discussed for both of the watches but to return in 15 minutes. At this point I still believe that both watches were repaired as he told me that on the phone.
I return later and he makes the big reveal that one of the watches is in fact not fixed and now the price is 1/2 of what he stated earlier. So was the plan to fix the watch in that 15 minute time span after he wasnât able to do it in 6 months??
Although he did not charge me for it, i do not understand why not just tell me you couldnât fix it instead of making me wait 5-6 months to physically go retrieve it to admit itâs not fixed.
Thatâs when I saw he put the completely wrong crown on one of the watches (wrong color, wrong brand, and not the original one it had when i dropped it off). The watch is entirely silver and the crown he put on was goldâŚ. I then requested that he collect the original one, and he did send it the following week (kind of strange though as he originally âwasnât ableâ to ship the actual watches for 3+ weeks)
So i get my two watches back at the 6 month mark, one âworkingâ and one not working. I take them to a watchmaker nearby in the city with great reviews and what does he find? Dirty movements (he sent photos too) that he describes as âno service couldâve left behind, missing screws, and swapped base plates from a spare watch with a different finishâ. And this new guy completes a full service on both of the watches in 2-3 weeks...
In summary it took 5-6 months, one still wasnât working, two both still needed a full service, one wrong crown (which he did send back), and two wrong base plates (still awaiting originals back)⌠Not one apology for any of the mistakes or acknowledgement of it taking a long time, otherwise I would not have written...
Read moreI'm a little late on this review. Back in November my fiance (boyfriend at the time) came to visit me. We haven't seen each other for almost 8 months due to the pandemic and needed a well deserved vacation. He surprised me by proposing and had this whole plan worked out how we get the ring sized and have it shipped off to get it 5-6 weeks later. My parents had come to this place a few years back and had a ring sized here. I didn't know how long the wait time was so we dropped it off expecting at least a week. He didn't know our situation or anything. But still got it done extreme promptly. Taking less than 2 days to get my ring back.. that my fiance was than actually able to slip it on my finger and ask me again to marry him. Extreme friendly, relatable and great prices for wonderful craftsmanship. He even was able to place where my fiance was from in Nova Scotia because he's gone...
Read moreI needed a pair of dangly earrings fixed (the chain broke off from the rest of the earring) and it was such a small fix that the man at the counter did it for free!! He made sure it was facing the right way, too. It seriously made my week. It also took less than a minute for him to fix itâŚthey are definitely skilled here. It took maybe five or ten minutes to be seen but it was worth the wait. Iâll be back if I have anything else that needs to be...
