Our experience with Raymour & Flanigan can be described with one word: terrible. I will never buy with this store again and would not recommend it. There were issues that collectively made it a really bad experience:
1- We bought an "as is" piece of furniture that was defective because the salesman promised us a $100 discount on top of the discount the item already had. However, when we completed the purchase, we left the store and were double checking that everything was ok in the receipt, we saw that they actually only applied the normal discount, not the one promised to us. We went back into the store and the salesman already knew that he didn't honor his promise. We ask him to honor it and he did. At the time, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed that he just forgot.
2- When the first items were delivered (they delivered everything in 2 separate instances) two things happened: A) The mattress did not fit through the stairs, which is NOT their fault. The delivery person said that they could bend the mattress to get it up the stairs but, if it broke, it was on us. It was a conventional, firm mattress, so the likelihood that it got damaged was more than any other mattress. So, we didn't accept and they took the mattress back. - No problem here.
B) They only delivered 1 nightstand - we had purchased 2. We called the salesman and we had a 20 min discussion with him where he was telling me, and assuring me, that we did not buy a second nightstand (I HAD THE RECEIPT IN MY HANDS!). He was saying things like "We never have people asking to be charged more" and other ridiculous comments like that. After going around in circles for a while, I said that I was going to drive into the store with my receipt to talk in person and ended the conversation. 5 mins later the guy calls back saying that he found the nightstand in the order... I mean... come on... He said it wasn't delivered because it was out of stock. However, he magically found one while talking to me.
In the same call we told him that we did not want the mattress anymore, or any mattress from them. After he insisted with a few more offers (and us declining), he agreed to refund us for the mattress.
3- WHEN MONEY IS INVOLVED, THIS STORE IS INCREDIBLY CONFUSING. They divided everything in 2 orders originally and after giving back the mattress they divided everything in 3 orders! I can only conclude it is purposely confusing - trying to get you wherever they can. At first, I thought that it was the sales man trying to con us. Either this, or he is the most disorganized person in the world - either way, bad. However, then getting the refund (had to talk to others in the store) showed me it is an overall issue with the store as well.
4- When the rest of the furniture was delivered (yes, they delivered the second nightstand), the bed was built and looked good. After they left, we looked around to make sure everything was tidy and we noticed several things: A) We found 4 washers around the bed, which could happen to anyone - they are small (hence, the reason we were cleaning). B) While cleaning we found 2 legs of the bed were not properly attached. One of them, WAS NOT ATTACHED AT ALL. They just put it there, so it "looked attached". We touched it and it fell. We had to attach it ourselves. The second one was the center leg and it was semi attached. The leg has 4 screw holes and only 2 were put in, and one of them was stripped from the wood (it wasn't really holding anything, it just looked like it was put on well). We had to look around to find screws that fit to put in.
We are finally done with the store, everything is paid and everything was delivered, but we don't really have written confirmation that we are all paid, because they did 3 different orders and we had to pay in 2 different places and neither gave us a written confirmation that we are done - only verbal. I hope I don't have to talk to anyone in that...
Read moreWas immediately met at the door by salesperson Evie. Told her what I was looking to buy a new mattress because mine was 12 years old. Never asked about price range so started showing me the highest end mattresses in the store. When I asked how much and she said 5500 I told her that was too much and I needed something no more than half that. She then tries to show me a $3500 mattress. Finally we get looking and she shows me one that is memory foam. I told her no. I end up finding one I like. She tries to set up delivery for Monday even though their is next day delivery. Begrudgingly she setups delivery for Sunday (the next day). Sunday comes and I'm supposed to receive a call when the delivery will arrive but they just show up with no call. Luckily I was home. The delivery guys tell me they won't take the old mattress which was I was not told when I was asked whether I had an old mattress for then to take when arranging delivery. The mattress is way too hard for me to sleep on considering it's supposed to be plush. Right after delivery I called about the lack of pick up and I was told my (who I now know is the bedding manager) he would try to find someone to come remove the old mattress but I didn't even get a follow up phone call to say he did or didn't find someone. I called again today and spoke to someone. Basically I get the same response of Well yeah they should have told you about that and if you come buy the mattress cover (at a price of $159) you can get a new mattress after 30 days if I still won't like it. I physically can't lay on it. All they want is there $159 for a cover, extra money from a mattress exchange and a $95 delivery fee in the event of an exchange but I have to suck it up and sleep on it for 30 days. Forgot the mention the mattress is memory foam. Just very...
Read moreI like the quality of their merchandise. but after my last shopping experience I am not to pleased with the sales force. I have spent many thousands here between my kids furniture and ours most recently 3,000 on living room bedroom furniture for our new house. I am a sales person myself and the number one rule is not to lie to the customer. We were told we cannot have a discount since we were financing at 0% due to they have to pay the interest. Unfortunate for me after a 6 month long battle for house hunting and trying to make my partner happy I just didn't even bother arguing over the fact that in house financing at 0% does NOT mean they have to make up the interest on our behalf ESPECIALLY when you get back dated 30% interest if you fail to make the proper payment to pay it off in the correct terms of 0% which is very easy to do but the LIE is the sales people saying they pay the interest so they cannot discount
2 star is because at least I love the quality just not a fan of manipulative sales people who LIE that's a good way to lose good customers and close less sales. sell yourself not the product and you will have people coming in asking for you personally not avoiding eye contact on their next experience
Updated: Talked to the General manager with no such luck on resolution and on top of that since the couch we picked out was not available in the color we wanted it in (choices were brown in stock or grey ordered) had to be ordered which was fine but 6 weeks later all discounts offered at the time of sale were erased and were charged full price, and on top of all that after the 6 week wait and getting the couch delivered ...oops.... they never pulled the throw pillows off the truck so I had to drive to the store and get them. I guess they now have...
