Visit on 1.14.23. I beleive it was clear to the employee behind the counter my GF and I were not familiar with this location's process of boot fittings and binding adjustments. Truthfully we are getting back to the sport after not skiing since our teenage years, things have changed!
We had purchased our skis at the sidewalk sale in Fishkill back in October. We knew we were late to the game getting boots for the season. Whomever was working behind the counter was originally kind to me upon my initial interaction. However when my GF asked me and the employee if the skis purchase recepit was needed for the bindings/fittings etc.
Immediate response from the employee, "I didn't even ask for that yet." In a rude, condescending tone. Immediately I felt completely uncomfortable in the store for not knowing what the hell the process was. At this point I didn't want to have any further contact with this emoyee. We went over to another employee who was very helpful with the whole process of buying new boots, fittings, etc.
I'm would never make threats to stop using Potter Bros, I love this ski shop. I grew up with their business at Jiminy Peak. I was just so shocked to have such a poor interaction with this employee. Please note the other woman working was kind and willing to explain exactly what boot we needed. Unfortunately we could get either at this time, but that was almost completely expected at this...
Read moreMy partner and I had purchased snowboarding boots at the Kingston Potter Brothers location and after a day of riding, we were both really concerned with how uncomfortable the boots were feeling. We had been told by the employees at Kingston that we could bring them in for adjustment at any time, but that they did not have the heat molder available, and recommended us to Fishkill or Jimminy as equally close to us where they would be able to do a proper adjustment.
After deciding to go to Fishkill, we couldn't be happier that we did. The gentleman who helped us, Eddie, was beyond patient, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He helped me (a first time boarder) understand how to adjust my boots with all their features and took the time to make sure I felt comfortable in them. He also helped figure out why my partner had been having so much problems with their boots. Not once showing anything but helpful enthusiasm and excitement for getting us comfortably set up and ready to get back out riding.
Wound up each purchasing new boards and I got my first set of bindings as we had such a good experience and confidence working with Eddie. This is definitely how you get...
Read moreI went in looking for new boots as someone who had only rented in the past. The man who came out to help scanned my foot and then put me in boots that were much too tight. I asked if there were any other boots that would fit better and he said no. I then asked if other manufacturers make different shaped boots that might fit better and he said no. I asked again and he reiterated that all boots would fit me exactly the same way and I just had to go with what there was. That statement was completely false. I knew that going in and I was shocked that someone fitting people with boots would ever say that. I promptly left and took my business elsewhere. I was able to find an excellent high volume boot at the other store that fit my feet well. I can't overstate how disappointed I was in the...
