I love love love this place. I have been visiting the Wilmington area for over 30 years and had been to this place many times back when it was "the candy man". I recently revisited on vacation and was not disappointed.
They have an absolutely amazing bounty of various chocolates... All are handcrafted. Actually, when I went for my morning run at 6:30, I saw the chocolatiers in the kitchen making the day's batches. So neat!
They have lots of truffles-some remarkable ones I tried included the peanut butter, orange and cappuccino varieties. The chocolate bark is amazing along with the various other assortments including coconut haystacks, maple filled, peanut butter cups, pecan/almond/cashew clusters, and fruit filled such as raspberry. Most of the chocolates were offered in both dark and milk chocolate to suit your preference. They also offer pre-made assortment boxes if you are looking for gift ideas. The store itself also offers adirondack themed attire, darn tough socks, candles from Adirondack Candles, stuffed animals, and maple products just to name a few!
The employees were so friendly and helpful, even when I took awhile picking which items to buy. I appreciated their kindness. Prices were also quite reasonable!
Okay I could obviously go on and on. But the bottom line is this: if you love chocolate and are looking for some incredibly delicious, unique, handcrafted chocolate treats this place is not to be missed. They not only sell delicious housemade chocolates, you can even watch them being made via a window when you first walk in.
Top that off with excellent coffee, teas and hot chocolate and you will understand why this needs to be on your itinerary.
