Vile, disgusting, infested with mice and bed bugs. Management does not care.

I stayed at the Mountain Brooke Lodge from February 2-4, 2024. It was clear this motel was cheap for a reason when I learned that you can’t use the microwave and heater at the same time without tripping the breaker, and that there was no warm water. I could have dealt with this, but when I found mouse droppings all over the place, I was disgusted.

I didn’t spend much time here so I didn’t notice it until the evening of the second day, but it was EVERYWHERE. In the bathroom, on the sink, on the desk next to the coffee machine, all over the furniture. It was absolutely vile, I can’t believe I had to sleep here. I notified management when I left and thought that would be the end of it.

When I got home, however, I opened my suitcase to find not only MORE mouse droppings (clearly the mouse infestation was still current) but also bedbugs. I called management and they said they found no evidence of mouse droppings or bedbugs and thus could only offer me a partial refund. Not sure if they were lying or just didn’t actually clean, but these pictures clearly show otherwise. There were a lot more mouse droppings than just what’s in these pictures, but at this point I just wanted to get out of there. They also told me they had rented out my room to another person shortly after I left, not even taking time to have an exterminator check it out.

Wife and I booked a room at this place and we got there and the room we booked was nice but it had a tiny little tv in the room my wife and I wanted to relax and lay in bed after a 3.5 hour road trip to get there it was so small and near the door and low to the floor so we said let’s go get some food and the host told us to go to the pourmans restaurant the give a discount of 10 percent well a can of dog food would have been better than the garbage they serve so we went back to the hotel and the host moved us to another room it was god awful hard little thin mattresses on steel frames it was so uncomfortable the hot water was so freakin hot my wife got burnt in the shower all down her back the room was so cold that we slept in our clothes all night including socks and shoes I called the owner the next morning and he said he was so sorry that he was going to give me a military discount and refund my money that was just a LIE he never did so I called him again and asked him if he was ever going to give me money back he said no and was very very rude to me so I hung up on him I would not ever recommend anyone to stay there the host was a sweetheart very nice lady the owner is rude and disrespectful last I knew marines were taught to have respect and dignity I guess this one forgot that......also we were woken up at 6.30 am with banging on the roof from roofers...
