Review for Kay Jewelers – Jefferson Valley Mall, Yorktown, NY – July 2025

I waited until the last minute to shop for Mother’s Day 2025 and ended up buying my wife a chain and ankle bracelet from Kay Jewelers at Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown, NY, thinking I was getting a good deal. Unfortunately, both pieces broke in under 90 days. When I returned to the store on July 18, they told me repairs would be $60 each, or I could buy insurance for the same amount per item. It was really frustrating to be charged again for jewelry that didn’t even last a few months.

After that experience, I went to a local mom-and-pop jeweler and bought a replacement ankle bracelet. The quality and craftsmanship were so much better and cost less than what I paid at Kay. I’ve learned my lesson: next time I’ll plan ahead and support small local shops that actually stand behind their products.

Kay jewelers has to be the worst jewelry store around. I bought an engagement ring and wedding ring from there and unfortunately I got divorced. When I tried to resell the rings, everywhere I went told me that the rings were worth nothing. I spent $5000 on the engagement ring alone and I can’t even get $1000 for it at a jeweler. Kay jewelers won’t buy it back either, they only offer a trade in for something double the price of what I bought it brand new which is ridiculous. I also bought a gold chain from Kay, which I agreed to finance, 12 months at 0% interest. When I checked my statements, they are charging me interest and when I tried to call them, they told me I need proof of a 0% interest promotion. I was in Kay Jewelers today for my six month check of my jewelry. I was able to work with Trisha, Kayla, and Bryn and I wanted to take a moment to say what a wonderful team they are. They took the time to examine all my jewelry that I have purchased at the store, clean it all, and assist me in an inquiry I had regarding another piece I may be interested in purchasing. They were attentive and knowledgeable, as well as being so courteous to each customer who entered the store. This team has not forgot how to deliver top-notch customer service, something that is lacking in so many stores today.
