This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Firstly, their prices in the restaurant are about double what the prices are listed on their takeout menu. I understand making it more expensive in the restaurant but double? That's crazy. So we come into this place and there's this giant crowd of people in the front, presumably waiting to be seated (as pictured) and yet the restaurant was about half empty inside... Very strange. Once we get to our seats there was this horrible bell chiming noise that sounded like an alarm clock that played in the background throughout the whole meal. The chicken dumplings I got (pictured) were giant slabs of meat put into a very poorly put together dumpling shell that fell apart if you picked it up. There were no spices or herbs or anything else in it. It was just a giant slab of meat in a wrapper. The waiter was incredibly rude and when I asked him about the price difference between the two menus he just walked away. Not only that but it felt like it took forever for us to get the check. Overall I don't think there's a single thing this place did that was right. I'm definitely never coming...
Read moreMy friend and I just walked out of this place. This was our first time eating in, since we live down the block and usually get it to go.
My guest was ordering the pepper steak, and I was having the walnut shrimp. We also got a side order of fried rice instead of bothering the place to have to swap it out for the white rice. We figured it would give us some extra lunch for the week anyway.
The waiter proceeded to say it’s a lot of food for two people, and I said I will take most of it home. He looked at me and my guest and said I doubt you guys will need to take much home at all. Basically calling us fat. He even gestured that we weigh more than the average Asian person.
We did tell the manager as we were leaving, but nothing became of it. Very low class. Very insulting. And Management didn’t take control of the situation. They lost very good customers. I do not recommend this place.
ETA: I see the owner responded. There was no misunderstanding. The waiter was very clear about his words. Now the owner is lying and makes the whole...
Read moreGolden House is a staple in Jefferson Valley and has been in this location for as long as I can remember. It’s a fairly large space, clean and well maintained with some nice fountain displays as well as a big fish tank in the center of it all. The staff is super friendly and attentive. There is a small bar near the entrance where you can sit and drink without needing a table but otherwise it’s all indoor table seating. The menu has all the staples and encompasses many palates from soups, to appetizers to entrees. You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg for a huge meal either which is great. (They even put down fresh noodles and duck/spicy sauce when you sit. Don’t see that a lot these days!) Again the staff is awesome, and super accommodating to your needs. This makes Golden House a great place to go for special occasions. (Perfect for birthdays, they will play the birthday song over the loud speaker...
