I usually don't take time to write reviews, but this time I had to. This was my first time visiting TJ MAXX in Wayne, PA. I was going about my business shopping around for some new clothes and I had found a cloth maxi dress. It was labeled xs and I usually wear a small to a medium. It looked like it would fit me so I decided to try it on. I walk up to the fitting room, mind you I was just there about 30 minutes ago, and I tell the fitting room attendant how many items I have. I have four items, she sees my xs dress and proceeds to say "oh somebody else tried that dress on today, you know it's and xs right?" and actually walks around the counter to look me up and down. I said "I know but it looks like it will fit" and she goes "mhm." So I walk down to a fitting room very annoyed by how I was just insulted, and try on the dress and my other three items. I didn't like the other items so lastly I try on the dress. It fits perfect! I put back on my regular clothes, walk out of the dressing room and hand the woman the items I didn't want and I kept the dress and I said to her "the dress fits perfect" and she goes "oh really" and looks at the other dressing room attendant and smirks. Also, I am 5'3 about 125 lbs, I am no where near overweight. So now I'm thinking should I say something to a manager because this is ridiculous. I keep my cool and proceed to the check out line with my dress. I get called to register 5 to a girl around my age. I say "hi how are you" and she just looks at me and goes "how are you" in a very non welcoming way. I swipe my card and then this girl really just crumpled up my one dress and throws it in the bag. Yet, I still keep my cool and say "thank you have a good weekend!" she just looks at me and doesn't say a word. I have never in my life been treated so badly at a store. I will never come to this TJ MAXX location again and I would advise any newcomers not to either. I felt very embarrassed and dissappointed that people can treat somebody like that, especially a customer. I hope a manager or somebody sees this message and teaches those girls some manners. If i could give negative...
Read moreTerrible customer services. 2 out of 3 times I went here, I experienced rude employees. I and my husband are not from the same race. First story, one time when my husband was in the dressing room trying clothes out, I waited for him outside and got approached by the attendant and got asked what I needed. I replied I was waiting for my husband (thought it was weird she asked btw). She literally went back in the men's dressing rooms to check, then came out and told me there was no one in there. 5 mins later, my husband walked out and confirmed to me that the SAME attendant handed him the number tag AND best of all, he was the ONLY man in the dressing room as well (it was 30 mins before closing so very few people in the store). What an interesting interaction! Second story, I wanted to return a bag that I cut the tags off (but kept the tags just in case) because I loved the bag at first sight and never thought of returning it. Turned out it was too small for all my stuff. The cashier told me don't ever cut the tags off if I want to return it. I worked retails before and people do this all the time. I always let them return their stuff without questions asked. In addition, they even printed the tag wrong and they were arguing with me that wasn't the right bag. I had to point out to them the price on the receipt and the tags matched. Even my husband noticed that was weird and said something. She did not let me return it. Overall, very poorly trained and rude employees. The store's inventory is not very well-stocked either. There are NOT many options for bags, men's pants, women's and junior's tops. Better services at the St. Davis location, cleaner store, more options, and...
Read moreHad a 19 or 20 uear old girl ringing me up. I asked her a question very simple about stores in the area. She probably had a long hard day, and it's funny now, but she had a slip of the tongue and responded "I honestly don't care." So I didn't want to give her a hard time, and simply asked if someone else could ring me up. Then, the manager tried to gaslight me saying "No, she just said she doesn't know" and continued to try and convince me I heard wrong. I simply said "I'm not deaf. She said to me that she doesn't care." I am sure I wouldn't care either working retail at Christmas time at this girl's age, but I could never get away with saying that at work at that age because it is simply unprofessional and it could easily make a customer uncomfortable.
I am just kinda reflecting on how silly it was that she accidentally told me her real thoughts, but just simply asking them to put me with someone else and the manager refused is just the reason I am rating this location poorly. The young girl wasn't too much of an issue, but the manager was. She insisted the girl is a nice girl, to which I said "yeah, I know, but she seems like she's having a bad day". They should have given that girl a 10 minute break or something and just given me another cashier like I asked.
Then again, maybe they gave that girl a short break after I complained 😆 and I'm sure they thought I was a total "karen". I'm pretty easy going, but also professional and friendly and such, and it was just awkward that thus young associate was unable to be courteous and friendly...or at least fake it for professionalism...
