EDITED: Upon further research I’m inclined to believe there may be inappropriate chemical technique being used for acrylics. I wanted to accept it as normal but after learning from friends and research I may have dealt with some nail damage. There was a VERY painful chemical reaction on my left hand fingers that produced a LOT of heat! It seems that may be the result of a quick chemical reactions that happens during rushed jobs, and heavy handed nail filing. It’s been two days and I still have soreness and burning in two of my fingers. It may also have something to do with how I didn’t see any disinfection of the station after the previous customer. I don’t usually expect small nail salons to be perfect but I didn’t expect to be sat at a table with fingernails all over it next to a plant covered in nail dust. Maybe the dog toys and food all around should have been a hint. I always try to be too kind in my reviews but yea … not again. Also, I wasn’t asked to wash my hands and neither did she wash hers.
EDIT #2: Its been a couple weeks and my nails STILL hurt. I don't really want to go back there to get them removed but I especially don't want the expensive fill.
—- FINAL EDIT —- I forgot to update how it turned out but I was shocked. So I went in after I called and said I just need a nail removal. I expected to sit and soak for awhile and hang out until they came off. But instead Mindy literally stopped another woman’s nails - to come and PRY mine off!!! She used a sharp acrylic nail (fresh, thank god..) to literally pry mine off of my dry nails. She didn’t wash her hands between that lady and me - and she didn’t tell the other woman what she was doing! Just said, wait a minute. I was getting full on GLARES from this other woman and I’m so sorry! I thought I would just wait for you or she would set me up a soak while she finished your appointment. Instead she made a bad impression on both. My nails were absolutely destroyed and brittle. They had flakes and were thin beyond repair. I had to wait months to even use press-on nails and they’re still too weak. :( never going again!!
ORIGINAL REVIEW —
Had an appointment for gel or acrylic nails - I brought a photo and Mindy customized it. I only had to wait a few minutes while another customer was finished up and paying, and was thanked kindly for waiting. No one wshed their hands though ... Chitchat was pleasant and funny, I felt pretty relaxed, until I started to look around. When I asked for a shape change midway it was done exactly how I requested. All of the staff was kind, and every customer I saw seemed really happy. Standard equipment, LOTS of polish colors around, and it took about 30 minutes for a full new set. Price point was okay for a full set especially since I didn’t have to travel to have my nails done. Not sure...
Read moreThe Artists were all very nice it was my very first time to ever get a mani-pedi and they treated me with respect and were very gentle and patient with me. I went to the young lady and I believe her name was Kim. Please, I strongly encourage you to go to Mindy's Nails!!! You won't regret it, I promise!!! 💜💜💜💜💜 Despite the reviews saying that the nails fell off the next day, honestly they probably only fell off because they didn't take care of there nails. The reason I say this is because my sister loves going there and her nails can stay on for months and it's because she takes care of them. I feel like if your not willing to talk to them then they feel like they should stay quiet. Kim was very nice and I had told her it was my first time and she kept on asking me if I was okay. She found a way to stop me from being awkwardly shy and we had a nice conversation. Shes been doing it for nearly 5 years so I'm pretty sure she knows what she's doing. If you want them to talk you have to try making an attempt to talking with them. And for all of you who are complaining about the way they talk chinese in front of you, please stop, it's their culture if they feel more comfortable speaking in their own language then let them be. I very been speaking Chinese for 3 years and I can assure you even if they talk alot in chinese they are NOT saying anything bad. So please be nice to them they work hard. And dont complain about the price I've been to a nail place to watch my sister get her nails done and they did a horrible job and charged her nearly $150 for a mani and they didn't even do half of the things that Mindy's...
Read moreI’ve been to Mindy’s a few times in the last three years, nothing fancy or special and purely for convenience. I’ve had a few gel mani/pesi’s with some success. The gel never lasted more than a week on my hands though, I remember being disappointed and chalking it up to body chemistry. About three weeks ago I decided to get a full set for vacation and I believe my nails were done by a man named Shawn. By day three I had popped a nail and had lifting on two others, and on days four and five I lost two more nails. Naturally I went in to have my nails fixed, which they did for free, but I literally went home and not even 15 mins went by and ANOTHER nail popped off. So I thought maybe it was just the gentleman that did my nails initially, and went in for a ($50) rebase. 🙄 I ended up being sat with a lady that sits in the last chair and half way through my rebase, SHE SWITCHED SPOTS WITH SHAWN. It’s day nine for this set and I had my first nail pop off and two of my nails were done crooked. I’ve learned a valuable lesson in sticking up for the quality of nails I want, but I’m still going to try every nail tech in Trinidad, Raton, and Pueblo before I go there...
