I have so much admiration for the hard work, servitude, and sacrifices that it takes to keep a corner boutique such as this in business. Therefore, giving a business one star is not without careful consideration, considering the potentially negative impact. For this reason also, I think it’s fitting to start with the positive, as their were quite a few. I made my to Unique Boutique, from Sacramento, while on my way to my moms Near Susanville when I decided to stop in. Vivian has an eye for style. Listening in, as I was Trying on about 20 items, I could hear her giving great suggestions with tact and honesty, to both male and female customers, as they stopped on their way to burning man in hopes of finding an outfit to wear to this unique event, which they did. The store has a lot of unique, well made clothing, which the prices reflect appropriately. The average summer dress, 10.00, a bustier, 25.00, good quality, dressy leggings, 20.00, and a killer deal on a fabulous purse at just 18.00. So now for what some may view as a negative, but not me, so as long as everything else went swell. When I pulled up, Vivian was out front getting a hair cut. No problem. So I waited just a few short minutes until she unlocked the door. It was very warm inside, no air conditioning, and no cold drinking water that I could see. As I made my way through racks that were packed way too tightly, and a store that was very cluttered, I found several items to try on. The heat, and the messiness, made shopping a bit daunting, but I was happy at that point. There was some confusion as to my dressing room, and what I didn’t want. I’m not sure if Vivian was asking me to give her what I didn’t want to free up the room, or not, but that’s what I thought at the time, so I draped the unwanted neatly over my arm, and gave them to her, and hurried over to check out. I normally always hang up what I dont buy. In this case though, I was very fatigued due to the heat, and a shoulder injury that makes trying on clothes unusually taxing. I had mentioned to Vivian earlier about my unjury, explaining that I may take a while in the dressing room. She mentioned she had a shoulder injury as well, and knew what it was like to try to get clothes over your head and reach behind your back to zip and so forth. So here is where it got ugly. She told me point blank that I needed to hang up my clothes. I was stunned. She said it’s very rude to expect her to have to hang up every customers clothing, and asked me how I would feel if I were her. I said I would feel that hanging up the clothes, though not exactly thrilling, was part of the service that a clothing boutique would provide, and therefore, Frankly, asking me to do it, especially considering how much I’m buying, is unreasonable. She went on for a minute defending herself until she realized how much I was buying. After we were finished, I couldn’t find my eye glasses. She was very rude about that. Not helpful, and annoyed with me. So I said, how about if I let you handle the customers in the store. I’ll go to my car, and look more carefully, and wait until you aren’t busy with customers to come back in. So, doing just that, I knocked, as the door was locked. She was again really rude, saying “I dont know what you want me to do. I looked around and didn’t see them.” (NOT SO). So I said, listen. I need my glasses. Would it be ok If I went behind the counter. I think they were wrapped up in my purchase and may have dropped. She said well I looked there. Then starts to empty out her bag, beseeching me, saying see! See! Not here. At that time, my fur was slightly puffed, and my back was beginning to arch. I calmly stated- never mind Vivian. I will leave. Have a nice evening. She ran after me, pounded on my window, yelling, saying- it’s not all about me, that she has other customers too yada yada. My first thought was: Good grief! She has other customer? Really? Not when I’m done yelping! However I waited until my heart rate returned to normal before writing this. Vivian. Did you find...
