Surprised at how mid this place was based on the reviews. Food was ok. I had the “Nashville hot” chicken sandwich and duck fat fries. In its own right, the sandwich was good. But this thing was as close to Nashville as New York is to Cambodia. Not spicy at all. Still surprises me when Popeyes has a better chicken sandwich than a sit down place. The fries were meh, which is a bummer because that’s what brought me to RMU. They were dry and somehow seemed like they were baked as opposed to fried. They were also lacking in the garlic department. Wife had the shrimp salad sandwich. She said it was ok, but not a great value for what it cost.
The service was also meh at best. The regulars definitely seemed to get a little better treatment, but that’s normal I suppose.
Overall, not a terrible place to go for apres im sure. But I wouldn’t recommend to come just for the food.
Edit: Knocked a star off for the restaurants dismissive response. You can bring back a can of spam wrapped in pie dough because it was “popular” that still doesn’t make it beef Wellington. You won’t see me soon because you didn’t address the issues and basically said I’m wrong. Not a great look. I’ve lived and worked in Truckee my whole life and get asked where I like to eat ALOT. Guess where I’m not...
Read moreWanted to try new places our second time in Truckee and ended up here. We came in right at opening, 2pm. We sat at the bar. The gal didn't give her name but was completely absorbed in conversation with her coworker who was off that day. We ordered off the Happy Hour menu and the food & drinks were delivered rather quickly. The burger was a very good, hand packed pub burger with fresh fries. My husband had the blonde ale and I a well drink. We took advantage of the train crossing and had a well shot for $3 each. The building is an amazing three story historical. ( Had to add that). The bill came and everything full price! "Oh, I forgot it was happy hour", was the response. "I can't do a new bill, the system is weird. I'll just give you a discount." The bill should've been $45 and was $64. She gave a $16 discount. Maybe pay a little more attention to...
Read moreI had the Nashville chicken sandwich a month ago, and wow, it was great. So big I thought "No way I can eat the whole thing" but then "it is so good I can't stop eating this." So just to make sure that experience wasn't a post ski day delirium I tried it again yesterday. It was even slightly bigger and just as good- borderline too hot, but not. If I had a normal appetite I would have split it with a friend, it was so big. Fries were great and cole slaw too. Now I want to try everything on the menu. I would like to see a few more IPA selections, but I'm biased as others like wine and cocktails. I like the small intimate size of the place. The bar kind of flows into the restaurant seating that flows into the ski/clothing shop, encouraging conversation. Because it's upstairs there's also a nice view out the sunny south facing windows from the many...
