I dislike "big box" chain gyms, strongly preferring locally-owned gyms where people go, not to work out, but to TRAIN.
I hadn't been in a gym since I moved to Tucson over 6 years ago. Can't say that gave me the results I was looking for :-). I found Beast Strong when I searched the web for "Tucson powerlifter gym", and I hit the jackpot!
The gym itself (I go to the East location) is a warehouse -- completely servicable, but very basic. That's because the owners spend the money where it matters -- the equipment! Free weights (of course) and top-notch machines. Every piece of equipment I might want to use is there ...
I knew I needed a trainer, and when I was "taking the tour", the manager suggested I sign up with this one guy -- I hadn't met him, hadn't even seen him, but everything about this place screams "results", so I said "OK" and signed up. He is absolutely the most knowledgeable trainer I have ever had. He noticed subtleties about form and nuances about how I move that no trainer had ever pointed out to me before.
The owners (husband/wife) are both professional bodybuilders. My trainer has placed very well in amateur bodybuilding. One of the women that trains in the early AM (when I'm there) is a highly-ranked powerlifter. And then there are the men and women who, like me, though not competing in a sport, are there for the no-BS focus on...
Read moreI've been training at Beast Strong Powerhouse since this past summer, and I can confidently say it's a fantastic place. One of the things I appreciate most is the wide range of equipment available. Whether I'm focusing on the big three (squat, bench, deadlift) or working on accessory movements, I always find what I need.
The staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. They're always willing to offer advice or just have a conversation.
Beast Strong Powerhouse also does a great job of creating a sense of community by hosting regular events. These events are a fun way to test your strength, meet other members, and stay motivated.
Recently, the gym underwent an expansion, which has made an already great gym even better. The added space and equipment have further enhanced my training experience.
Overall, I highly recommend Beast Strong to anyone looking for a top-notch powerlifting gym. Whether you're a seasoned lifter or just starting out, you'll find everything you need to reach your goals in a supportive and motivating...
Read moreAbsolutely love this gym. I love the feel of a smaller gym with more specialized focus on strength sports. They offer Coaching for everything from basic weight training just to be fit and feel good, professional bodybuilding (and every category that includes), and powerlifting. They have all the equipment needed to train in any strength sport. And with 24hr gym access and 2 locations (Marana and the Eastside)it makes it super easy to train on whatever your schedule may be. They also offer nutrition guidance for those who need assistance with that in their journey to whatever your goals may be. The owners Rafe and Melissa don't just talk the talk they also walk the walk and both compete. Truly a great atmosphere with friendly members and great staff. I personally have tried the big box gyms and hated the atmosphere as it felt impersonal and intimidating. But Beast Strong is not that. It is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I have made some really great friends over the past 2.5years and formed some amazing...
