I am an avid supporter of local businesses, and generally do what I can to support them. However, in the case of Casa Film Bar, I can no longer support or recommend them in my community.
This review is based on my own personal experience with Casa not addressing an issue of sexual harassment, and how this experience has affected my opinion of a local establishment and it's relationship with the community as a whole. Women will not feel safe if issues of sexual harassment are not properly addressed, which Casa has failed to do so. Therefore, I personally would not feel safe attending anymore events here.
A manager there was made aware of sexual harassment by a patron towards a female employee. This patron was a personal friend of this manager, therefore rather than taking the sexual harassment seriously, this manager took the female employee off the schedule and placed her "on call" - a clever way of firing without really firing. When the owners were made aware of the situation the patron was banned - however, their public statement was weak and made no mention of a plan to educate their staff on how to properly handle sexual harassment, nor any discussion of outreaching the former employee for an apology or reinstating her job. They didn't apologize to her at all for the way the situation was handled and the manager who "fired" the employee is still employed.
Rather than address the issue any further, as the community remains angry at their weak response, they are monitoring their Facebook profile, deleting any negative reviews or comments and are completely ignoring the situation, hoping it will go away. I hope that the community remains angered by their lack of response and care to this situation and that this doesn't just go away, as they hope. My hope is that they'll lose enough business that they will address the situation appropriately. Sexual harassment should not and cannot be...
Read moreAs said previously & based on multiple personal experiences with Casa Video upper management (including those who have control of their social media), it's both funny and sad how as of today (and again as of two weeks ago) Casa Video is still actively mainuplatiing their public posts & feedback to hide several honest customer reviews. Every review that is not glowing is deleted or removed across multiple platforms, and that poster is then blocked. Not all that glitters is gold. They previously had double the amount of customer feedback, and have taken the path of hiding or removing so many comments (it was actually closer to three times as many comments), so that now only a few reviews remain. I have a hard time believing that so many individuals just willingly deleted their comments simultaneously, asking for Casa Video to take accountability regarding it's stance on sexual harassment of an employee. It looks like it's time to start taking screenshots to help Casa Video become accountable, as it seems to be much easier for them to continue deleting comments and reviews here...
Read moreIn the past I've loved going to Casa Video for years, but the last experience I had has made me question ever going again. The bartender Ericka was very rude in denying a friend of mine to sit at the bar. So much so, he felt uncomfortable enough to leave without ordering. This appears to have stemmed from a personal dislike that has no bearing from a professional standpoint. Furthermore, that personal issue extended to myself, where I've never had an issue with this establishment, Ericka, or any other bartender before, and even to my friend visiting from out of town. I understand a business's right to direct the conduct of its patrons or to refuse service, but I haven't seen otherwise blameless patrons being targeted because of personal judgements. This unprovoked and unnecessary behavior from this bartender, Ericka, makes me question the efficacy of the staff as well as my willingness to visit this establishment in the future, let alone have good opinions of...
