before today, i would have given this place a 4.5. most of my manicures have been good or great, and the place is super cute inside. with that said, today was the most confusing nail salon experience of my life, and im bewildered.
i went in wanting to have my sns removed, and replaced with a gel manicure. 90 minutes and $32+tip later, i walked out with the nails seen in the photos.
my nails were definitely weaker than expected after the sns was removed (perhaps because my last manicure there was incredibly thick?), but she just kept cutting and cutting until i was left with nubs. i requested that we just do regular polish instead of gel since my nails were now very short and weak, but stopped her as she was about to put polish on as my nails were still a HOT mess.
every single nail was jagged, with each a different length and shape. my cuticles hadn’t even been pushed back, and i figured nail polish would make it even worse. i asked her to just leave it at the clear coat so i could cut my losses and go home. but i really can’t believe she thought the nails were ready for polish when they looked like somebody had gnawed on them with their teeth? again i am so confused, i truly thought she was joking at first. zoom in for a good laugh lol.
the frustrating part was not being able to communicate with anyone about what was happening. the almost 100% language barrier made it impossible to communicate with my tech or any other employees, and i hate causing a scene so i just paid and left. im still shocked that they saw the state of my nails and thought everything was okay though. the fact that this was charged as a manicure...
Read moreThis was my second experience and I made an intentional Effort to make an appointment with Sophie because I enjoyed her work my first appt. I get there and the gentleman at the front I can’t exactly remember if he asks me or lets me know someone else is going to do my nails. I tell him no, that I specifically made my appt with Sophie because that’s who I wanted. He informs me she’s on the phone but she will be out. So I sit down, ask her a few questions and she gets to doing my nails. I show her the design i would like and ask if she’s able to do it. She proceeds to tell me that it’s ugly but she can do it. So in my head, im like well if she thinks this is ugly she probably won’t do a good job. I end up changing my original idea and choose something really basic. I’m not sure what drove her to give me her opinion on the design. I just wanted to know if she could do it or not. I don’t know if she was annoyed because I specifically requested her to do my nails( I did make an appt with her online, days before). when it came to check out. I asked if the 10% off Promotion was applied and she said no , only For first time clients , but on their instagram nowhere does it state that. It says all clients no strings attached . I would not come here again because of the subtle rudeness that I received the second time around. As a nail client I don’t care what your opinion is on a design. I just want to know if you’re skilled enough to do it and if I make an effort in making an appt for someone specifically. I should be notified if that person no longer...
Read moreI really wanted this to be my nail place, but the techs are always late. I’ve been going to this place for over half a year because of the work that they do. I really love Sophie’s designs and I was always so happy with my nails after each appointment. The problem is if you book an appointment at 9:00, the techs are very rarely on time. Sophie had a habit of texting me while I was on the road to tell me she was going to be late. I was okay being flexible about this, but she did it almost every time. Whenever she was late, she almost always had an ice cold coffee from Starbucks though. It started to get frustrating because I never knew when she was going to be in. I asked if it would be better if I started coming in at 10, but they insisted it wasn’t necessary. I booked Tim at 9:00 to fix a broken nail and he didn’t come in until an hour later at 10:00.
Recently I booked a fill at 9:00, and Sophie texted again to say she was going to be late, and I said it was okay but please be on time next time. She wrote me about her personal life and how she was falling behind and I thought it was really inappropriate and unprofessional. She told me how stressful it was to be an owner of a nail salon and she told me to book Bob or Tim next time. I feel like I’ve been very patient with the general tardiness and I don’t think this response was warranted. If a salon sets its own times, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect the techs to be there.
I’m attaching some images of the times Sophie came late and then argued with me when I asked her to...
