My review is specifically regarding Behavioral Health. When I asked yesterday if there was a survey I could fill out with feedback, I was told to "look online," so I will just leave a Google review instead. 2 stars because I was able to get appointments easily and I really like the nurse I interacted with (Dana).
I have private health insurance, but decided I would utilize IHCRC since they offer services I am seeking. I began seeing Dr. Kennedy (psychiatrist) in August 2024. My initial visit was to request ADHD testing for myself. Instead, I was prescribed anxiety/depression medication. I most certainly have anxiety, so I followed the treatment plan, hoping that every new session would finally end with him telling me that I would be put on the list to test for ADHD. Instead, my symptoms were attributed to anxiety; trauma; poor coping skills; etc. Never mind that I have lived with myself for 36 years and have family who can attest to the fact that I showed symptoms in childhood as well (high achiever, so this was overlooked).
I contacted Behavioral Health on 3/13, begging to get an appointment with Dr. Kennedy. I was seen on 3/14 and told that I would need to pass a drug screening before I can be tested, and as I recall, I was told that someone would contact me within 2 weeks of passing the drug test.
I scheduled and passed the labs. I had an appointment with Dr. Kennedy the same day, expressing my frustration at having lost almost 10% of my body weight in less than 8 months on the current medication. He did opt to switch my medication, which is the one positive.
I called back 12 days later, never having received a call from a Psychologist to discuss a testing date, only to be told that I am now on a wait list (although no one could tell me my place in line or how long I could expect to be on the wait list).
I immediately started searching for a new psychiatrist elsewhere. I was able to get an appointment and my current medication prescribed with her, so I called and cancelled my future appointments with Dr. Kennedy and let the receptionist know that I will be seeing another provider. His nurse called me that afternoon to inform me that I am being dropped from their testing wait list.
This is very concerning to me. I did everything perfectly and followed their treatment plan for 8 months, only to be kicked off their wait list for not wanting to be seen by a provider who does not hear me. It would be different if I was refusing psychiatric services, but I am opting to be seen elsewhere and could easily bring in my records to prove this.
Fortunately, within 2 hours of that call, I was able to get an appointment and complete intake paperwork with Psychology Specialists of Oklahoma to be tested. I am excited to finally receive the services I should have been provided with 6 months ago! If you have private health insurance and are able, I would look elsewhere for behavioral...
Read moreFirst of all, I would like anyone reading to know that this one star is not a reflection of the resource center, but rather a reflection of the actions and malpractice of the woman who was my doctor, Jackie Garland.
She was my first doctor I had in years, and I stayed with her the whole time. Anytime I went in, whatever diagnosis she gave me I accepted and proceeded with her treatment plan.
Recently it came to my attention that I may have a genetic disorder. I went to Jackie, who told me at our first meeting that she would take me seriously. I suffer with a great deal of chronic pain, I'm in tremendous pain every day. I just want help, I don't want pain medication. I'm tired of treating symptoms, I desperately want to get to the root cause instead of being pumped full of medicine.
The moment I politely asked her to consider referring me to a neurologist, cardiologist, rheumatologist, and a physical therapist, she LOST her mind. She was incredibly aggressive, and insisted that all of my physical pain was in my head. I was suffering from stress. Mind you, my mental health is WELL managed and has been for years. I stick to my treatment plans.
She accused me of being a doctor shopper, and a crazy person who would find any article I could that would agree with me. It got so bad, that I walked straight out of my appointment and filed a complaint, as well as a complain to the Oklahoma medical board.
I think the IHCRC is an amazing resource for those who don't have health insurance, and I am praying that my experience with my next doctor will be professional and helpful, but DO NOT go to Jackie Garlnd. She will berate you, and insult you, and gaslight you.
Find another doctor. Do not let this...
Read moreYou know I use to think this was the best place ever but after how they are doing my daughter, this place will let you die before they will help you if you are late on coming to an appnt. My daughter was 10 minutes and 15 minutes late to two appnts and was not seen on getting her thyroid medicine, the soonest they could get her in was a month later. Claude a doctor there said when she started her thyroid medicine this year that she was lucky her organs had not shut down. She has been out of her synthroide 200 micrograms for over three weeks and told today that they had no walk in drs so they could do nothing for her. They have known she has not had her medicine for three weeks that she is feeling awful that she won't be seen till the 23rd of this month but cannot give her medicine till she can be seen. So if her organs shut down because she was late a mother of four the youngest 9 months old, Tonya the head administrator who would not give me her last name, says its my daughters fault because she was late, so if she dies it was her fault because she was late. They have had no doctor in the last three weeks who can authorize her life threatening medicine for three weeks. Isn't that amazing. Peoria Indian Clinic is the most uncareing worst place you can put your life or your loved ones life in with this Tonya woman running it who won't give...
