The place is really cool. I really like the feel and atmosphere of the place and décor. The open concept with the bank and real-estate company is really cool also. I like the use of the building and uniqueness. The Craft District is a really cool place and this is DEFINETELY a really good addition.
So- I've been 3 times now and wanted to give a fair review as they are a new place. Every time the burgers were Really Really Good. I've had the classic, which I hold up there with the Best Burger EVER! (Compared to a CA chain that you drive in and then drive out of.) Hint Hint. I've had the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. It was made with Rib Eye Steak and seasoned to PERFECTION! So good. And I've had the Wings. The wings are really well sized and have a bunch of options for the sauces and flavors. Each burger or sandwich come with a side- the truffle tots were my favorite! All the meat comes from a local meat market Stuarts Meats. (If you've ever been out there, you would think that the place has been around before electricity!) The buns and bread I found out are made from a small bakery in Kalama Wa. You can really tell the difference in the meats AND the bread.
The employees were all smiles and were really approachable. I was even approached on EVERY VISIT asking me how everything was, and if I wanted anything else and even if I wanted a Togo box. EVERY VISIT :)
Looking thru some other reviews there are a couple of comments about the pricing. I think that there are just some people don't understand what it really takes to make a quality LOCAL product and pay employees a good wage. Also, it being their first week in business I think that they did really well on the timeline for service in all 3 times that I went.
All in all, I know that I will be back and have told a bunch of my friends about this place and have also heard that the food was absolutely incredible from multiple people. I think this place and the Tumwater Craft District is an incredible asset to the community vs all the brick and mortar box store chains that you see every...
Read more$30 for a burger w/tots and a side of fries is outrageous...details below.
Let me preface by saying they did just open on Monday 8/25.
The order at the counter with no menus when you walk in has to stop... It's the same nonsense as Tumwater taco(same owner), they rush you up to the counter and immediately ask what you want like you've even had a chance to look. It's tiny, very crowded, we had to walk in between tables to get to the counter which just felt awkward and unnecessary...
We ordered the spicy burger $19 and the side fry $7 yes $7! For a side fry. They ask you if you want any sauces then CHARGE you for the sauce. Like brother if I'm paying $19 for a burger it BETTER come with a sauce or 2, if I'm paying $7 for a fry there is NO reason it shouldnt come with at least one sauce. Nah we were charged an extra $.50 per sauce...
The burger was good, VERY salty and very plain. I'm talking quickly grilled onions, a couple jalapenos and maybe sauce w/cheap cheese. Definitely not worth $19.
Both the fries and the tots were undercooked. Probably because they were in a rush and it took 35min to get our food. Again staff should at least warn you it's going to be x minutes.
The dude in front of us never got his food and asked for a refund. Wasn't even mean about, just said it's been 30min we'd like a refunded and the guy assuming either the manager or the owner was a complete jack hole about it... Didn't offer any excuses, didn't offer any apologies, didn't even say anything just had the young register kid pull out the money and hand it to the guy...
The atmosphere is not great (just like Tumwater taco) and it's directly attached to the credit union with a big opening into it which makes you feel like your in one of those gas station fast food joints.
All and all, the lady and I won't be back but it's the "hip new" place in Tumwater so I'm sure they'll stay busy.
Expect a wait. Expect expensive mediocre food and opt to sit...
Read moreTL;DR: Undeniably delicious smash burgers at 'medium well' prices. Folks, this place just soft-opened 08/25 - cut 'em some slack.
We stopped by around 12:30pm-1pm on a Sunday, ordered our food within 2 minutes & maaaybe waited 15 minutes - mind you, all the tables were full. We ordered the Spicy Bacon Smash ($19) & the Pastrami Smash ($17.50) - fries with one & tots with the other. Total bill came out to $40.08 after tax. According to their menu, Brewhouse gets their beef from Stewart's Meat's (menu says it's 80/20, leading me to believe it's ground round @ $6.99/lb, but I could be wrong). I know we're all concerned about prices, but Brewhouse isn't too far off compared to other locations selling specialty burgers (also, Dick's Burger's is 45 minutes away - 2 Deluxe's + fries is around $14.50 + tax/gas). Seriously, go to Red Robin & order their equivalent Jalapeno Heatwave burger - it's more expensive & likely made with 27% cardboard.
People, the burgers were delicious, plain & simple. The edges were visibly crispy, wonderfully browned, & it was beautiful to see they didn't go overboard on toppings. Both our burgers came with grilled onions, cheese, their custom 'goop', & jalapeno's or pastrami respectively. The Spicy Bacon Smash was juuust the right level of spicy, in my opinion, for the masses (a bit over the 'white person spicy' threshold though). The sides are to be expected - fries & tots were crispy (also not overly greasy, like a previous review stated) & HOT. It's great to see Brewhouse bringing out orders fresh from the kitchen vs letting things sit under heat lamps (disclaimer: heat lamps DO NOT add flavor).
Overall, we had a great experience. I'm sure in time, pricing will adjust, the ambiance will improve, & they might even pave a spot right out front for that food truck that sells banana cream pudding... Keep up the great work Brewhouse,...
