My recent visit to jc penny’s in university mall - Tuscaloosa AL was a night mare. I arrived in the store ( after work Orentation) looking for a couple of pair of pants 42/30 , several shirts xxl and a belt. Starting high paying new job at 6:30am in the morning . I found one pair of pants , but asked the sales associate to help me find another pair of the same brand or ANOTHER brand. The sales associate showed no interest in helping me although I only had 30 minutes until store closing. At 9pm a sales associate who had only been on the job for two days came by and helped me locate two more pair of pants. In the process, a so called manager named Kerri came up to me and explained to me they was closed and needed to ring out their cash register while the new employee was locating me two more pair of pants. This Kerri was so rude that I told her I had been requesting help but received none and asked her did she want me to come back tomorrow or never. Another sales associate came by while I was paying for my clothes and stated to my no help associate (TJ) that” you do what you can do”. WOW WOW and WOW. So let me convert this into English. A customer requested help , but to no avail . Management had attitude with customer but still offered no help and finally another senior sales associate stated “you do what you can do” , but customer received no assistance for neither. One of their associates who was only on her second day of work was more help in five minutes than the other three combined. I hope for the sake of future customers the old crew does not corrupt the new hire because if this happens the poor customer will receive no and I mean no help. By the way I spent $227.16 but I on my way to Walmart to purchase some work clothes and will return clothes to jc penny’s because I just can’t support people who doesn’t care anything about...

JCPenney has been a household name for over 120 years, and every time I walk into the Tuscaloosa location at University Mall, I’m reminded why this legacy brand has stood the test of time. The store itself has been a part of our local community since 1980, serving generations of families with quality goods, fair pricing, and friendly service. That’s over four decades of anchoring University Mall—and it shows in the way they continue to meet everyday needs with ease and care.
Whenever I go to JCPenney, I find what I’m looking for. Whether it’s a quick wardrobe refresh, housewares, or shoes for my son, they always seem to have just the right thing. The store layout is intuitive, the departments are easy to navigate, and the merchandise is consistently well-stocked and organized. Even more than the products, I appreciate the people—the cashiers are kind, patient, and helpful, especially when I’m using my JCPenney Rewards (which always feel like a sweet little bonus for being a loyal shopper).
There’s something incredibly comforting about shopping at a store that has not only been around for more than a century, but has also been part of my life since I can remember. It’s a place where tradition and convenience meet—and in today’s fast-moving retail world, that’s a rare and beautiful thing.
Thank you, JCPenney, for being both timeless and timely—for evolving while staying true to your roots. I’m always glad to walk through those doors and even happier when I walk out with...
Read moreI was just in this location in Tuscaloosa. And I Had a terrible experience first of all I’ve waited in line for a clerk. After no one showed up, I went looking for him and found a Clerk at the fragrance counter. I asked her to get us some help. She went looking for help But then summoned for us to come to her counter. Waiting in her long line I began looking at the on sale fragrances. I opened the boxes because they were in disarray and I wanted to see what was in them, and she came and told me that we were not supposed to open the box. I waited patiently for My turn to be waited on. I was exchanging dress sizes. Hey, how you doing? I guess Annie was frustrated and upset that I asked her for assistance Because when I had her the dresses She rudely and nonchalant there the dress across the counter. So Sis, I was preparing for a special event and was planning to wear the dress this evening. I decided to just return the dress because of the way she was handling it and proceeded to look for A dress elsewhere. Annie was very very rude and I guess she does not want people to ask her for help outside of her counter. I now have to look elsewhere...
