We arrived at Full Moon to dine after The University Of Alabama Graduation. It was the place of choice by the Graduated, My Nephew! Fully Honored Marine Corps, Master Sergeantâs Graduated with Double Major Degrees! Can you tell that weâre so Proud of him! Anyways, we were greeted at Full Moon with friendly servers. It a big open space after walking into the entrance, we immediately saw our other family members seated already at large round table in the middle of the room. With a big bouquet of flowers and balloons flowing in the air it wasnât hard to miss them! Lol! Now, you have to go to the far side of the restaurant to place your order for your food and they will give you a number to place at your table . Then a server will bring out your food! The wait wasnât long, as a matter of fact it was pretty quick! Each tray came swiftly and the food looked delicious, as well as hot & freshly made. I ordered the Loaded Pull Pork Baked Potato. And it was huge too! The top was full of shaved pork, cheese , sour cream and topped with chives! Needless to say I had to take a baggie home! It was a lot for me. But,It was served hot, delicious especially after putting the house barbecue sauce on top of it! All of the other family dishes were delicious too, bc there was very little talking going on & a lot of eating! Lol! Letâs see, I remember my sister has the Open Face Catfish sandwich plate, with the dinner fries . It was a hefty plate ,steaming hot! She included a side of Key lime pie. To top it off she drank half regular coca- cola , half diet . Idk, thatâs her thing! Everyone seemed pleased with their choices ,there was a few more carry out plates. The server was floating around the room asking from time to time, âwas everything OK?â If you needed more refills on your sodas, tea, or lemonade it was also on the opposite side wall in the corner. The room wasnât crowded with people at the time. The soft sound of all the huge TVs mounted on the walls ,with the game being played set the tone for the atmosphere. Itâs a great place to eat Barbecue, Huge Hamburgers Sandwiches, Fish plates, Barbecue Chicken, Barbecue Sausages etc. Everyone was nice as passersby asked who was the honorary guest? They congratulated him & wish him well on his new journey. It helped to make his day! Thatâs the type of friendly atmosphere Full Moon set! Weâre all so happy that we chose there to go to celebrate his graduation dinner! A Shout out to the Manager to bc she was super sweet to me in helping me solve a problem with my plate! Youâre A Blessingâ âCONGRATULATIONS JOSH!â HAPPY...
Read moreBeen to Full Moon twice now, and not impressed either time.
I will say that the ambiance is very pleasant in a barbeque meets sports bar kind of way. It's been clean and the service has been friendly. The first time, our food was a little slow to come out, but it wasn't unreasonable.
I've gotten the stuffed potatoes both times, as Full Moon is one of the only places you can get a bbq potato in Tuscaloosa. I tried the pork first, and didn't much care for it. Pork was low on smoke flavor, and the toppings weren't plentiful enough. This potato is HUGE, and because of its size, lots and lots of toppings are needed to ensure that you can have enough for each bite...but there wasn't enough. Also, I felt the potato was a little under cooked. All that aside, the potato is honestly too big. Almost no one could eat it all in one sitting, and it's not the kind of dish that's great reheated.
After being disappointed by the pork potato, it took many months before I plucked up the courage to try the chicken potato. I shouldn't have bothered.
Now, part of the problem is on me - I forgot to ask for no bbq sauce on my potato this time. However, that's how it's usually served, so most people must like it that way, right? Not me. The sauce tasted like the sweet tomato sauce you'd put on a picky kid's spaghetti. I wagered I'd eat around it, but then I realized the chicken was no good, either. It was gamey tasting, closer to turkey taste than chicken, with no smoke flavor. It was also extremely dry. I couldn't eat it.
All in all, I paid 11 bucks for a very tasty sweet tea. I will also say that their coconut cream pie is...
Read moreThis is an edit to my original post; Really thought I would see a reply to my comments! I guess one person having a bad experience doesnât really matter! I would not have said what I said had it not been true. đđđđđđđđđđ. Shame on you!!!!! đđđđđI am very disappointed with our last trip to Full Moon. We went at the end of the lunch crowd. I think there was maybe six or seven people in the entire dining area. Several people in the area (behind the registers) where you would place your order. You could tell that no one was in charge. We ordered the chicken baker with plans to half it. This is what we always do if we eat. On this trip we ended up wishing that we had gone elsewhere. Our potato was cold to the point of âwouldnât melt the butterâ which they didnât even put on it. So I went to the counter and ask for butter. Now I know why it wasnât on the potato when it was brought out to us. OK, now that you know it had no butter, this is what was missing: sour cream, bacon bits, almost all the chicken and very little large percentage of the cheese. I am so disappointed in our visit. So now Iâll tell you what we got: for our $10.00. A cold potato with a little bit of cheese and chicken and a large bunch of green onions. I waited and waited for someone to come around and ask how our food was. And yes you guessed it! No one ever did!!!!! I am not apologizing for giving a bad review because itâs the truth. Anyone that doesnât like what Iâve said, I hope you never have the same experience with your meal. Service...
