Overall this is a great store with to be honest no equal that we have ever found. That said some things drive me crazy. Here we are in 2023 open seven days a week and it says open untill ten today. Trouble is open just does not cut it for me. Fresh needs to be open for business not just so I can walk around 2 to 3 hours before closing to look at the gleaming stainless steel in the deli department where the lady tells me at 7 45 sorry we are closed! Same applies to the meet and fish department. Every thing is removed cleaned down and put away hours before the store closes. I would suggest the opening hours be changed to reflect when food is available not when doors are open. I understand people want to go home, profits etc but we would not expect the emergency hours at a hospital to be different to when help was available .This is update 3 to my previous 5 star reiews. Recently there have been three occasions of extremely poor service at his store. Occasion 1 deli department an employee was busy cleaning counters and failed to look up and even acknowledge customers waiting to be served. After about 10 to 15 minutes I gave up and went around the rest of the store getting what I needed and returned to find the same customers still waiting. Occasion 2 The day before mothers day seafood counter. One member of staff looking after seafood and a customer had requested salmon. The employee was pulling bones out the fish one by one with pliers. Once again after a twenty minute wait which I timed and went around the store only to find after a further ten minutes the same person still waiting for their fish. Eventually another member of staff stepped up to help. The original person was extremly slow and needed help and further training or both. Occasion 3 today bakery section about 5:30 pm Stood in line for about 15 minutes behind a customer who did not know what they wanted. Instead of the employee excusing themselves to deal with other custmers while the other customer reached a decision she stood and waited for however long the decision was going to take and did not ask for help if it was available. Again after further shopping I came back and got what I needed. This service is not good enough and managment should not be leaving poorly trained un supervised people by themselves. I would question if fresh really needs people this bad. I made three calls tonight to speak with managment without success, the phone rang and rang. The lady I spoke with said they were busy because of the up coming holiday. The store appeared ready and was not busy. Its much easier to keep the customers you have than get new ones. Pretty sad to see this downhill slide of a great store.
This is an update to my original review two years ago. When I wrote the original review I did not see myself writing an update higher than the last 5 star review. The Fresh store obviously believes in continious improvment in all departments. Our experiance is the wide range of beautiful food in the meat, fish, vegtables, cheeses, pre cooked food is amazing for both selection and quality. These departments have all been improved and upgraded. Quality of food, the presentation an service from staff is second to none that we have experianced in any of our travels all over the US, Canada and Europe. The bakery section as well has an amazing range and their made to order cakes are beautiful. The talent in the flower department is excellent. I had the manager make up a special arrangment for my wife and she knocked it out of the park my wife was delighted. This continues to be our favorite store.
Two years ago Excellant ready to go hot and cold food. They also have live bands Friday and Saturday evenings pre covid. We look forward to this again for 2021, We checked out the pricing to other stores and found product for product of the same quality they appeared to be less expensive. However they do carry a lot of very high quality products that other stores do not carry and these items as we expected cost more than the lower quality products. This is now our...
Read moreit's an overused word extreme and for that I apologize, but I think it applies here. Phenomenal. Fresh is a phenomenon. Upon arrival at the store you are presented with ample parking and an attractive building. A playground on the other side of the lot catches the eye. Then it's time to go in and it's fruit and veggie city! Beautiful! Whether you want to eat right now or are going to eat later like lunch or supper, this is the place to go! You can find a pharmacy, a tortilla factory, a wine shop, a burger joint, a juice bar, a bakery and any number of other things at this unbelievable store! Even one aspect is breathtaking. Let's take the fruits and veggies; Fresh has every fruit and vegetable under the sun. As I said...breathtaking. All manner of daily and familiar fruits and veggies can be seen and selected in the store along with the ones that are not so familiar and common, like rhubarb, certain peppers, cherimoya and jicama. I think that inside that place there's close to every type of apple that even exists! You have a selection from so many different names, packaging, colors, sizes, flavors, organic and everything else! Easily accessible shelves, barrels and islands display nuts, legumes and other products that intrigue the imagination. Above produce needing moisture water misters accurately and periodically mist so that everything is preserved and presentable to perfection. Then in another part of the store there's the canned and bottled fruits, veggies, soups, sauces and hard to find items. I could try to get into all of the other aspects of the store but I don't think it can be done in this review square-it would be a 7000 word essay. Fresh in the most wonderful way is actually up on the same par with Buccee's. Suffice it to say meats, dairy, fruits, veggies, seafood, sushi, snacks beverages and a whole slew of other products and experiences are waiting for you at Fresh and I'm going back as soon as I can!
42323-the answer to the Maps question: "fresh by brookshire's-has it changed?" is a resounding and happy no! It hasn't changed! It's still the same phenomenal, wonderful, variety-laden incredible place to visit that it's always been! I just ate a whole rack//a whole lb of baby back ribs (yes, I know... I don't know whether to be alarmed, proud, satisfied or all three) but they were the juiciest and tastiest! Fresh has a most amazing and intriguing meat showcase! They have seafood, pork, beef, chicken and any number of additional types of poultry and meats. They're all affordable and tasty, and some of them, like the baby back ribs, have a delicious marinade already applied so all you have to do is heat and eat! You have got to try the baby back ribs from Fresh! You will be so glad you did! Before that I bought a huge beef pot roast. It was delicious and lasted over two weeks! Restaurants, fruits, veggies, the checkout counter, the general attractiveness of the store, the parking lot accessibility and the personnel-just a general great job all around! Very satisfied! It looks to me like you're destined to be around forever!

Read moreThe quality at Fresh has unfortunately diminished with new management. We have been shopping at Fresh since it opened and we are unfortunately going to convert to shopping at Sprouts and Whole Foods / Central Market in Dallas now. Since new management has been in place everything we love about Fresh is gone. Let me explain. First, the reason we loved Fresh was the quality of produce, selection and care in keeping the food. I am now continually finding expired food or food that just isn't good. The other day, we purchased tiger prawns, and I had to wait and watch while the two guys behind the counter debated whether they were still good. They smelled them and then pulled one apart to see. This is not how you convince a customer of freshness. We've bought molded Brussel sprouts, picked up meat and cheese which had one day left before expiration, etc. The store in general is not kept up any more. The bathrooms smell awful, the floors are continually dirty and on our trip yesterday a whole section of yogurt was soaked with water because a door gasket was not fitting correctly. If you've read this far, wait, there's more. The staff are either unhelpful, slow to help or just downright don't care. On many occasions the young checkers are more interested in talking about their break time or last nights exploits instead of picking up the pace on checkout. And oh, checkout, let me tell you, the checkout process puts target to shame. There used to be minimal lines due to an abundance of checkers. Now there are 2 (yes 2) checkers and 34 self check lines. Who (WHO????) wants to self check an entire buggy full of groceries? I can see having one or two open self checks for someone buying less than 10 items, but that's it. I've bottled this up for a while. I'm done. I can't imagine any will care about losing our business too much. We spent $250 at least every week we visited. I'm not doing it anymore though. You've taken a premium experience and turned it into anything but. I'll gladly shop at other stores for basics and spend a trip in Dallas on the hard to find stuff. Please take these comments to heart. Others are talking about their experiences with the new management. I think you have a people problem. You've let better people move on to other places and the flagship Tyler store is suffering...
