Trying to take our 5 year old daughter to the movies has been a nightmare... So on Sunday the AMC in tyngsboro has a posted showtime for that new Disney movie I think for 6.45, when we get there we were told someone rented it for a private showing... My daughter was super upset as we were talking all day about going so we told her the following day we would try again the lady working stated there weren't any private showings scheduled which I feel they should designate times and specific theatres for this so they aren't advertising a time to the public but have it scheduled for a private viewing. So, the following day we decided to try again granted, we were running a bit late roughly 20 to 25 mins we figured they still have the credits at the beginning and we were ok with missing the first few minutes of the movie, she really was looking forward to the experience and the snacks. So we get there and started to walk in to be greeted and advised they were closed... CLOSED? I told him we were aware we were late and we were ok with missing the start of the movie and were ok with paying full price, he stated 15 minutes after the start they close it down... This was partly our fault so we figured we would try one more time, third time's a charm so we planned to go to the movie theatre in Londonderry, so all day we had it planned to go we pull into the parking lot 5 minutes early to the 6 pm time we see.posted and there is not a single car in the parking lot, come to find out apparently they are only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Amc unfortunately owns all the movie theatres in our area other than chunkys which we weren't planning on doing a chunkys but it appears we should since we have had such a hard time trying to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFeels like a small town theater. Went to see Ghostbusters during a matinee showing, so consider that when reading my review.
Really, the only reason I went to the AMC theaters was for the exclusive popcorn tins and stuff, but to my disappointment, they had no more left. It was clear that management--either locally or nationally--did not plan for enough of the themed purchases to support demand for opening week. All the theater had available was the marshmallow man shaped drinking cups, which are twenty bucks a piece.
Unfortunately, since they were missing all the themed items I wanted to buy, I wasted my money seeing the movie in a lackluster theater when I could have seen it in Dolby at my local theater.
The theater does have plenty of Coca Cola freestyles, presumably all working. The one I used didn't appear to have any drink options disabled.
They don't have enough napkins available to encourage patrons to clean up after themselves; only have napkins at the popcorn butter area.
The theater, number 4, was very clean, as far as I could tell.
The theater does have nice (actual) recliners and plenty of leg space to stretch out, which was new to me and I find them to be very comfortable.
The theater was cold. So much that I had to put my hands in my jacket and put my hood on. I reckon they turn the heat down to save money when there aren't as many people occupying the seats.
The washrooms are small with limited facilities with soap dispensaries that didn't work.
All things considered, aside from the location being convenient, I would not recommend anyone spending their money here. If I go back to an AMC theater nearby, it'll be one of the bigger AMC theater options...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis theater used to be my favorite. I could get to the theater 45 minutes early and grab a great seat at an affordable price. Yes, the theater at that time was a little run down, but it was within my budget and the theater was never overcrowded. Since the renovation, it's all gone downhill. It seems like every 6 months they increase ticket prices and concession prices go up. I can no longer show up early and get a seat. I have to buy the tickets half a day to a day in advance. Also, 25% of the seats are useless to watch the movie (the seats in front).
I even have a stubs card but my wife and I can't justify spending $24 on a standard movie (pushing $40 with concessions since they basically yell at you if you decide to buy candy and soda at the dollar tree. I know people that sneak in stuff so they don't waste money on the overpriced concessions). Honestly, for that kind of money it makes more sense to go out for dinner, you at least get to have a conversation and good food. This theater is no longer worth the entertainment value it provides. I'd much rather go to Chunky's or Cinemagic and pay less for the tickets than overpay for a reclining seat. I used to go to this theater 1-2 times a week. Recently, I think the last time I went was over a year ago. Not to mention they got rid of the student discount, and the senior citizen discount is pathetic. They must be losing customers, hence why the prices keep rising. I used to praise this theater. Now I never...
