I've never had an issue with Rex Robin. It has always been, hands down, my favorite place to go for delicious burgers.
My son (2.5 years) has severe food allergies (anaphalic reaction - 7 of the top 8 plus 8 other random ones), and we have eaten at Red Robin with him - it's been the ONLY place that we have trusted to take him for us to eat as a family.
We've eaten at this location a few times, and have been extremely happy with how his food was presented and the attitude of the wait staff when we have explained the severity of his allergies.
Today, it was a very difference experience. We ordered the allergy fries and 2 plain kid burger patties. The server seemed to 'get' what we were explaining. The food came out and my son ate 1 fry. He didn't finish chewing the fry and started to drool a bit, rub his eyes like crazy, and began to break out in some hives. I asked about the fries and was reassured that they were the allergy fries.
I monitored my son, and we took his burger patties to go. I went to warm the patties for him for dinner, and there was cheese between the patties. It was more like someone put cheese on, realized there shouldn't be any, and tried to pull it off. Instead of getting a new patty, they just stacked them, hiding the cheese.
Our guess is that one of the fries touched the cheese that was on the burger and this caused his reaction. THANKFULLY, he didn't eat the burger and that I caught it before giving it to.him for dinner.
I did call and speak to a manager (Debbie - I think that was her name), tried to tell me that there was no cheese on it. I explained that it was yellow and I tried it...and that it WAS cheese. She apologized and said that they take food allergies seriously and that sometimes new people don't 'get it'. She wanted to send me a gift card... I declined. All I wanted was for the situation to be mentioned, and hopefully no one ends up with an experience worse than how it...
Read moreWe had Kim as our server/bartender for the even ing. All three of us in my party all had the new burnt ends. (That's what they call it. They weren't burnt) burger it was absolutely delicious. We each got to cooked a different way medium, rare, medium and medium well outstanding. One person had the garlic parmesan fries which I didn't know was a dollar 99 more. It was fine. Other person had bottomless regular fries and I had the bottom of salad. I was planning on only eating half of my hamburger cuz they're huge, plus I was having the salad to offset eaten. The burger. Kim was very pleasant. It was an awesome night. There were several families sitting around us with small children who were actually well behaved. Behaved thank you very much parents. So everyone enjoy the evening, my table and those around us. Kim was very attentive and pleasurable to be speaking with. I took my half a hamburger home and remaining three quarters of my last bottomless salad and had the next evening for dinner. If you haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? Lol. But seriously the salads are huge. I saw someone getting the chicken tender salad and the man couldn't finish. It brought half of it home. They have a towering onion ring which we did not get this night which is always delicious, thick, thick wide cut onion rings that are very crispy batter. But again we did not get appetizers this night. People in my family enjoy the chicken wrap sandwich. But again we all have burgers this night. So try it. A hamburger can range from $14 to 18, but again it does come with bottomless fries. So why don't you make two meals out of it. Eat half - like I did take the other half home.
Have a delicious meal, burger and french fries or salad and good...
Read moreAfter a long day of plumbing fixture shopping for our new house, my wife and I worked up quite the appetite! Conveniently, there was a Red Robin's right in our area to rectify this issue. Neither my wife nor I had eaten at here before, but I can safely say that we will again in the near future!
To begin, we ordered some local beers which were cold and quite robust. Wonderful! My wife, a self-described "fanatical fish fan", then piqued my interest in trying the Arctic cod sandwich off the "fun with a bun" section of the menu. How could I say no? As I understand it, the Massachusetts area is known for its cod, which has been simply delectable in my limited experience. My thinking was that cod from the Arctic, where the water is colder, would rival the local stuff. Indeed it did! Both my wife and myself devoured our sandwiches like bears do salmon out of a stream. Unlike that salmon, this fish was well cooked and flaky; this was indeed fun with a bun. To put it simply, the cod sandwiches are delightful here, as is the beer and the service.
My only other comment, and my wife agrees with this, would be to have more bird-themed decorations around the restaurant to create a more unified aesthetic with the Red Robin's brand. For example, having real pictures of birds around each table or sculptures of the Red Robin at the doorway would go a long way to make the atmosphere more like birdwatching. Maybe even guests could view the menu with miniature binoculars and kids could play a spot the red robin game and receive a feather pen instead of crayons to draw on the table with. These are just ideas though! Try the food and...
