I've lived in Mt. Pleasant for almost 10 yrs and just came here for the 1st time in August (2017). I was beyond impressed! I love chicken, but my BF isn't that big of a fan of it. We asked for 2 pork chops for him and 2 chicken breasts for me. The pork chops were fresh, a little over 1" think and huge (diameter; I'm really bad w/measurements so i can't be sure about an exact size. Lol). The girl that helped us said that the only chicken she had available at the time was frozen. That is not a factor in my decision to purchase or not in regards to chicken. She had already dropped what she was doing, and keep in mind they were pretty busy at the time we were in there, to help my BF get his items. But she also took the time to walk around the counter, over to the freezer and pull out a couple of chicken breasts to show me to see if i wanted them. They were not inky a good size, but they looked so fresh, even though they were frozen; not like those from the grocery that are clearly filled with steroids and God knows what else and look like they've sat there for quite awhile. For 4 items, that were very large portions (i can't remember the weight for everything) we paid approximately $17 and some change!!!! And when we got home and got ready to put super on the grill .. well, those chicken breasts were double the size they looked like in the package!!!!! Those 2 pieces of chicken were larger than the package of 3 breasts that you get at the grocery and almost half the cost (at the grocery 3 chicken breasts, approx 1lb costs around $8. Yet here i got 2 chicken breasts that probably weighed 2+lbs for about the same price!). Plus, the pork chops and chicken were obviously healthier, more fresh and the flavor ... have MERCY! .. They were so absolutely delicious, even without a ton of seasoning making the flavor of the meat (BF only used salt, pepper, and a pinch of seasoned salt). I know this is an extremely long comment complimenting this business, but between the quality of the meat, the services offered, and the more than amazing customer service provided i feel it necessary to point out every little detail so that everyone can make an educated decision to come here. I promise you that I've only bought chicken from the grocery maybe a handful of times since i came here and only b/c my schedule conflicted w/the hours they're open. Otherwise, i don't shop for meat ANYWHERE else! I suggest you follow my advice and do the same. If you haven't been here, GO RIGHT NOW! You won't regret it. Many thanks to the owners and staff for the excellent job...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDone buying rancid meat! My family has been buying meat from Smith and Sonās for the past year or so. Weāve spent over $1000 by now on meat bundles. Weāve gotten chicken, ground beef, and steaks countless times without issues. Recently we bought a $370 bundle that included some big steaks. We put our meat away as soon as we get it home and thaw it as needed. I pulled two big steaks for dinner the other day and the meat was rotted and rancid. I called again because my girlfriend had already dealt with this happening the week prior with two other steaks. My girlfriend was rudely told the steaks are āagedā and if we wanted the good meat we shouldnāt buy the bundles. IF YOUāRE BUNDLING YOUR SPOILED PRODUCT TO SAVE MONEY DONāT SERVE IT TO MY FAMILY. We were told to buy the fresh meat out of the case if we wanted good meat. Wonāt be spending any more of our money here. Money is tight as it is and to be getting hundreds of dollars of spoiled rancid meat isnāt right. We spend hundreds on the bundles to save, not lose out. The meat was replaced but we were given much less meat in return and told that we didnāt know what we were talking about. My dogs didnāt even want to lick it or smell it! I know when meat is rancid just like when milk is bad! Now I have to wonder what else in the $370 bundle is rotten.
Editing on 1/10/2025 - Pulled two New York strips last night from this bundle and they were rancid. Had to toss them, what a waste of money. Dogs didnāt want to even touch them again. Crazy these people sell this rancid low quality meat and get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis butcher shop isnāt just a place to buy meat...itās a full-blown meat circus, and Iām the ringmaster of my grill. They donāt have just one butcher. Itās like an entire squad of meat ninjas, stealthily cutting steaks so perfect they could bring a tear to a cavemanās eye. I walked in for a steak, and these wizards handed me a cut so divine, Iām pretty sure I heard angels singing from the back freezer.
I donāt even know what kind of sorcery they use on their beef bacon, but Iām 97.4% sure itās illegal in at least three countries. And donāt get me started on the sausages. Theyāre so good, Iāve had actual dreams where theyāve replaced my kids in the family portrait. My spouse asked why I keep smiling when I get back from there, and I said, āItās not just meat, honey, itās a spiritual journey.ā Five stars, because six would make the other...
