Saturday I had booked a room at the Hampton inn Mount Pleasant with my 2 girls and their friend for a cheer competition. I arrived in town early and was told there are zero check ins before 3. He didn't even look to see if any rooms were available. I was bummed but It is what it is. So the girls and I went and got lunch. I came back a little after 2:30. I figured I'd unload the car and get in line so I can get checked in right at 3 considering I had to leave right away to go be at the state finals for competitive cheer by 4. I walked in to find out my room wouldn't be available until 4 but worse yet was the behavior of the gentleman behind the front desk. 2 female workers had just shown up and he was giving them the run down and that run down included bad mouthing people who were upset and mocking a customer because they said they were calling corporate. So I called him out on it and he wanted to tell me not to talk to him like that. He was incredibly rude. So a lady behind me started yelling at the guy because he took her phone number and when a room was ready was supposed to be called and all these people she came with got their room…. So what did they do accommodate her and got her a room. WHY did no one else get accommodated. Why did he tell some people zero check ins before 3 but others were able to check in. I asked to talk to the manager Saturday (they were there but was helping clean rooms I was told) never got to talk to them. So I asked Sunday before leaving. There was no manager supposedly which was frustrating because they were aware of my concerns and that I wanted to speak to one. I called Monday and left a message and here I am Wednesday and I've heard nothing. I was hoping to get this resolved so I could include that in my review but unfortunately not the case. My friend who got 2 rooms came before 3. He didn't take her name and said come back at 4 so by the time state finals were done and we got back to the hotel her rooms were not together. He knew she got 2 rooms. He could have at least taken her name to make sure the rooms would be together but like I said he was being extremely rude. The 2 female workers who were there the rest of the night were outstanding and kind. The breakfast was great the next day and those ladies were so friendly and kind too. I feel like my only real issue with the room was my sink did not drain which by the end of our stay was pretty gross. I also don't like the community bath soap, shampoo and conditioner that's glued to wall so the same bottle is getting used and touched...
Read moreWe booked this hotel based on reviews and with an expectation of it meeting the standards of Hampton Inns we have stayed in elsewhere. I am a salesman who travels for business and Hampton Inns have been my go to. Some are better than others, but this place fell way short. After a long day of travel we were greeted by a nice young woman at the front desk. We obtained our key and went up to our assigned room. When we opened the door we were greeted by the stink of human sweat, similar to a High School boys locker room. It was dank and disgusting. We turned around and walked out - straight back to the front desk. We waited in line for a half hour behind a bunch of old biddies trying to get their room situations sorted out. It seems the hotel was sold out and mostly filled with confused old ladies there for a convention. When we got to the front desk, the same woman told us we were lucky and there was only one room left in the entire hotel. Shame on the hotel management for having this kind of sold out occupancy and leaving one person there to handle the mess. We got that key and walked back to the room. We opened the door and it stunk just as bad. They truly have a problem. And by the way, the rooms are poorly furnished, they look tired and far below the worst Hampton Rooms we have ever stayed at. Have a look at the way the bed and pillows looked in the picture below. After a long days travel you want to crawl in to a nice comfy freshly made bed, not one that looks like someone else just crawled out of it. UNACCEPTABLE! My wife's comment "it might not be dirty but it feels like it is". This room was just shy of $200 a night, because it had a fridge and a small sofa. I quickly went online and found a full suite at the nearby Comfort Inn for $155 and after a brief but non contentious dialog with the front desk person, checked out and left. At first she said I would have to speak with her manager on Monday and he might refund my money. I told her if that was the case my first call would be to Hilton Corporate to discuss the pathetically low standards at this property. Then we magically got an instant refund. So ultimately, the brand for me was tarnished by this experience and I now have had a lovely experience at a competitor's property and of course I will consider them in my selections of chain hotels going forward. Less money, for a nice suite, freshly decorated and clean . And by the way, the free breakfast...
Read moreThe room accommodations in 214 were absolutely deplorable. I wish on everything I had chosen to stay across the street at the Holiday Inn! I booked this room for a girls get away for my mother and her girlfriends. When I walked in I already had a feeling…there were two young girls at the desk communicating (it was obvious one was in training so I somewhat understand) initially the one training continued on speaking to her trainee as I stood there waiting for her to finish her thought. She then very pleasantly assisted me with check in. Then we went to our room and it went downhill from there. Was this room cleaned? Hmmm not sure. The bathroom, gross. Hair on the baseboards and behind the toilet…stained tub, chipped and damages in the room. My mother and her friends were okay with the room, I have never stayed in a worse room. I went to the desk and communicated what I had saw, I exchanged pictures with the ladies at the desk. They did offer to change our room, I had little to no trust that anything would be better. At that point, the wonderful ladies I were with didn’t want to make a fuss and change rooms…it was so embarrassing. The ONLY advantage to this hotel is the proximity to the casino…the pool and hot tub area were equally unkept. There were ants and drain flies….and clumps of hair. My goodness. AND THE MATTRESSES!!! Stained…what in the world. Please look at the photos. Staying at a hotel is a treat for me and being able to spend time with my mother and her friends was so special, I just wish the accommodations reflected that.
Update: Despite the status of the room, the staff is amazing. So kind, professional and apologetic. The front desk and Manager Alex on duty 1/24/24 went above and beyond to rectify the situation, very much appreciated. And the complimentary breakfast was nice, again the staff was...
