Here is my 100% Honest Opinion about Tupelo Honey. I order a lot of food just to write this review. I really want to give this place 5 stars but I cant because most of my food was not hot. The food tasted great but the temperature of the food did not meet the mark of this high quality restaurant. Melina Izzi took care of the situation the management was great all the way around. But not eating your food together because of a mistake is top on my list of what not to do. But I would highly recommend this place to anyone that likes great food. Read below for Details of the dining experience. Main: The Fried Chicken is better than The Eagle. <--- I stand by this The Chicken and Waffles is better than The Pearl Appetizers: Crispy Cauliflower was really good adding the thinly sliced fried Jalapeño with it great idea. (BTW there not hot at all) 9.2/10 Crispy Potato Kracklins very well seasoned but I would like to taste more rosemary and i was highly disappointed to see basic Ketchup for such excellently made potatoes.7.8/10 When I got hot sides: Grits were the best I have had in the Midwest but this is the closest to the south, I thought it need more flavor(not enough cheesy taste). 7.5/10 Mac N Cheese 8.1/10 I thought the bread crumbs to much Greens with Bacon were good but way over seasoned 5.2/10 Oddly enough the most disappointing thing I had was the Menu was the Award Winning Biscuits, they were overly salty and cold. They brought new hot ones but the Biscuits weren't good. The only thing that save them was the Butter and Jam. I didn't finish the biscuit just missed the mark 3.9/10 The Margarita was disappointing I was expecting a punch of Tequila on my first taste but it was more like juice. Margarita are my number one drink of choice and I am a Big tequila fan and collector. Maybe my exceptions for the drink were to high. But if you are a Tequila fan like I am it wont live up to the hype. 3.5/10

Okay. First, let's address the title soul food. This place is not soul, food or comfort food. You could say something else, but if you really had soul food down south the grandma's fried chicken or just Sunday meals, this is definitely not the place. The portions are small. I ordered chicken and waffles classic. I got two waffles and two pieces of chicken. Then there was a daybreed roast beef in New Orleans. The day breed is the outer part of the roast that has the most flavor that kind of zaps you. This didn't they just stole the name in the lingo from New Orleans. It was not that the green beans didn't have a soul food taste to him at all but what it did have. It had hints of it. But soul food is supposed to open the door and smack you right in the face. It's supposed to be bold flavors. This did not have it. However, the decor, the atmosphere, even the lightly play music was good. And if you know if you read my reviews in the past, I cannot stand going somewhere where there's loud music and the music doesn't reflect what you're eating. This does somewhat and it's not loud. That's a great thing. Services is good. You'll get good service. You can sit outside or inside and they can open the windows to have light and air from the outside come in as well parking. They have a parking lot a little ways away or you can park across the street. However, this is a no for me. If they had not said soul food I probably would have gave it a one star more. But since they said soul food, it's a it's a mess. I hate to say Columbus Ohio does not have any quality. So true soul food places to eat at all. You cannot gourmet soul, food, soul. Food comes from the soul. You have to feel it. You have to be it. You have to live it in order to cook it. I've heard Bobby flay say it's the most hardest thing to cook soul food because it's all about so feel and taste

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tupelo Honey for brunch, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy atmosphere that set the tone for a delightful meal. The menu offered a variety of enticing options, but I couldn't resist ordering the classic chicken and waffles. The dish exceeded my expectations, with perfectly crispy fried chicken paired with fluffy waffles drizzled in a delectable syrup. The combination of sweet and savory flavors was simply divine. My wife opted for the shrimp and grits, and she was equally impressed. The shrimp were plump and succulent, perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The creamy grits provided a comforting base for the dish, and the accompanying sauce added a delightful kick of flavor. What truly made our experience at Tupelo Honey exceptional was the thoughtful gesture of complimentary desserts. When the staff learned that we were newlyweds, they surprised us with a sweet treat to celebrate our wedding. It was a heartwarming gesture that made us feel special and appreciated. The service throughout our meal was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. We never felt rushed, allowing us to savor each bite and enjoy our time together. While Tupelo Honey may be known for its Southern-inspired cuisine, it certainly exceeded our expectations. The quality of the food, the exceptional service, and the personal touch of the complimentary desserts made our visit truly memorable. We highly recommend Tupelo Honey to anyone looking for a delicious brunch experience. Whether you're a fan of classic Southern dishes or simply appreciate good food and warm hospitality, this restaurant is a must-visit. We can't wait to return and explore more of their enticing menu offerings.

I recently visited Tupelo, a chicken restaurant that had been on my radar for a while. Upon arrival, I opted to sit at the bar, excited to sample their famous fried chicken while enjoying the atmosphere. Unfortunately, my experience started off on a rather sour note. As I settled in, the bartender began to clean the area. Without any forewarning, he sprayed a cleaning solution that ended up splattering all over me. While I understand the importance of maintaining cleanliness, a little consideration for patrons in the vicinity would have gone a long way. A simple heads-up could have spared me from that uncomfortable situation. This was my first visit to Tupelo, and I was hoping for a warmer welcome. It would have been nice if the staff had taken a moment to inquire if I had dined there before. I know that sitting at the bar sometimes doesn’t afford the same level of service as a table, but those initial interactions are crucial in setting the tone for the meal. It felt a bit impersonal, and as someone who has worked in the food industry, I’ve always been taught that engaging with customers is key. Spraying cleaning solution while ignoring the presence of a guest is not the best way to make someone feel valued. The chicken itself was quite tasty—crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Mac and cheese paired well with the meal well. I can see why the restaurant is very busy. However, the rocky start left a lingering impression on my experience. While Tupelo serves up delicious chicken, I hope they take the time to refine their customer service. A little attentiveness and warmth can transform a good meal into a memorable one. I might consider giving it another shot, but I hope for a more inviting atmosphere next time.

We made reservations for a Friday evening and got seated fairly quickly. They have options for inside and outside, but it was a bit too hot for outside. There's free parking all around the plaza and a garage and there's usually plenty of parking. It does get a bit loud inside but it's fun and lively to be in. It's really bright and pretty inside, lively and cozy, and has a lot of fake plants which warms up the space. Staff is super nice and really accommodating, but our service was a bit slow but they were busy and it was filling up quickly. There's also bar seating, and their bar is bright and pretty. We got their Fried Green Tomatoes, Cauliflower Bites, famous Honey Dusted Fried Chicken, Cast Iron Pork, and Salmon with Quinoa. Their green tomatoes were delicious, fried well, and sauce was a good pairing. The cauliflower bites were absolutely delicious with he sauce on top and ranch. Their fried chicken was tender for the most part and crispy, but I wish the seasoning was a bit more strong because it wasn't shining through. The cast iron pork was tender and flavorful, covered in bbq sauce. The salmon was good, but I think it was a bit overcooked and dry. I was slightly disappointed in each dish, but overall it was a great atmosphere, decent food, and kind staff. We also got the Blood Orange Margarita, Southern Hospitality, and the House Made Ginger Beer. All drinks were delicious and made well and refreshing! I would recommend for small groups, a casual date, and decent food. I would come back and try other dishes, they sounded good and I'm curious. It's also a nice area to walk around and there are shopping stores surrounding the plaza.

Beautiful restaurant. Terrible food. Okay service. I ordered Tupelo Honey’s take on a Cobb salad. It’s made with shredded cheddar rather than blue cheese crumbles which they did not carry. It was missing the bacon and the server graciously brought me a ramekin of bacon floating in bacon drippings! After scooping it out and draining it on paper napkins, it was the best part of the salad. The greens were not fresh. They were browning, wilting and even found a few that was just slimy rotten. It came straight out of a bag without any inspection. The hardboiled eggs were overcooked, the added grilled chicken had decent flavor but it too was overcooked and dry. It was just a bad, bad salad. I tried my dining companions biscuit. Yeah, I could skip coarse, salt sprinkled dough. I got a complimentary dessert for my birthday. I selected banana pudding. Worse I ever had. It tasted like school cafeteria instant pudding. Not the kind you make from scratch with milk, eggs, and sugar. It was just a disappointment. Service was so-so. We had to ask for a refill. She must’ve forgot I ordered it with cream. Only THEN was I told of my creamer options. So my first mediocre coffee order was not what I expected (they didn’t even offer cream). A let down. My daughter works in food service and she loves visiting new places. I’m not a foodie by any means but a salad should be easy. My daughter seemed to enjoy her entree of fried chicken thighs, collard greens, red beans and rice. I was not impressed with the sample she shared. I won’t be suggesting a revisit any time soon, but the maple grazed bacon was tasty. Just ask they drain it before serving.
