Upside: No shortage of parking for your car, or racks for your bicycle. While not exactly inviting or personable, the staff is GENERALLY friendly and polite, with just 1 or 2 exceptions (not sure if those few unpersonable, borderline-rude kids work there anymore). Even before the pandemic, they tend to always have staff randomly cleaning the machines. I don't remember ever encountering a gross/dirty machine at this facility.
Downside: In fall/winter, the place is always freezing cold and the management absolutely refuses to reduce the air conditioning, turn off 1 or 2 fans, or adjust the temperature in any way shape or form. It's always blowing hurricane-force winds in there, so I often have to wear long sleeves or even thin sweaters just to go workout.
Covid19 Update: They' enforcing masks, and they reduced their hours from 5am to 7pm. The former is GREAT. The latter limits the 24/7 flexibility that many clients loved about this gym, chain. However this change is understandable, due to the global pandemic and overall economic situation. While the $10/month is still basically impossible to beat, I certainly hope they resume 24/7 operations like before.
UPDATE: AUGUST 18, 2021 They are back to 24/7 operation (even though the pandemic is still raging), and newly updated equipment and heavier weights. IT'S FEELING MORE LIKE A 'REAL" GYM NOW! I mean, of course that situation also has pros and cons (attracts a "different strain of clientele"), but hey, nothing is perfect.
Like I mentioned up top, this location used to have a bunch of hoodrat staff that didn't know how to interact professionally, but management seems to be replacing them with more personable, more professional front staff. Of course occasionally some of the staff look like they hate their jobs, but that's pretty rare these days.
One thing that I - a regular client - would like is mandatory proof of COVID vaccinations. Unvaccinated people should NOT be allowed in the gym without proper face masks. Ideally, they would not be allowed in the gym AT ALL! But that's a slippery slope and could lose them business. And we don't want that. We want to keep them in business, because one simply cannot beat the Planet Fitness Value Proposition - $11/month (basic) or $24/month (Black Card).
Besides, if they keep going with these improvements, Planet Fitness could be the #1 chain gym in the country! And that's definitely something. I look forward to seeing how this fitness club...
Read moreI joined Planet Fitness when I was 70 and it was the first time I joined any fitness studio. I was in the process of losing weight and also suffered from lower back pain.
After being a member for six months or so, I also went on Weight Watchers. That helped me track the foods I was eating, and my weight, on a regular basis. Since that time, I have lost over 30# and have moved to a smaller belt. My 4-year-old granddaughter can now climb on my back, multiple times, and I don’t have to worry one bit. My body is fit. I have lost fat and gained muscle. When I leave at the end of a workout, I feel confident, strong and motivated. My lower back pain is completely gone. I have had to get smaller clothes, which I love. I feel good and I am not done.
When I started at PF, I spent time with their trainer and he showed me multiple machines. He also recommended that I incorporate cardio training on the days between workouts. That has been harder to work into my schedule, but in warmer weather, I always walk my neighborhood. I now have my own ‘workout plan’ – a number of machines (14) that I hit each visit. It is funny now to remember when I started and I thought working out for 30 minutes was really something. Now I often train for up to 90 minutes.
If you are thinking that you might want to give Planet Fitness a try, DO IT. You will not regret it. It is, by far, the best decision I ever made for myself. Instead of taking care of everyone else, I am now taking...
Read moreI have been coming to this Planet Fitness for years. Let me start by saying ever since the staff was changed I have been going through some racially questionable situations with the staff walking in to confirm my membership. Today I walked into the Planet fitness with my sister to workout. When we approached the counter to confirm membership as well as take my information as a guest, the guy with the hoop ear rings asked me for my phone number. I gave it to him and he said that the number did not work, so I said that's funny cause that's the same number I have been using for years. So i gave him my old number and he said that didn't work either. I have noticed when he put the 2nd number in that he did not actually put the number in the system. He than looked me up by name so I gave it to him. When my records pulled up I noticed my name came up twice with both my phone numbers. He than proceed to tell me I CAN NOT workout with my sister who have a active black card membership due to a balance on a old account that have not been active for years. I told him I paid for that account once I opened my new account from a promotion years ago but I still was not let into the gym. I than left the gym and use the same information at another Planet fitness and was aloud to workout. I will never again come to this planet fitness. Very u comfortable from the door. I feel like I was...
