I'm going to rate Jawbreakers 3 Stars. It's an awesome store for any Pokemon TCG purchases. My only issue with this place is the "Trade-In" process. When you bring singles in to sell, they don't use their computers and look up any prices. They kind of just go through your deck/singles and then say "Hows $0.50 per card sound?" Now, that completely fair when it comes to regular V cards and stuff of that nature. BUT.... I had many VINTAGE singles in my trade-in and they didn't even look up prices or present a reasonable offer. Just resorted back to the $0.50 per card logic. And if you have a vintage card, and there is even ONE tiny dot of whitening , the card becomes classified as "Moderately played" , when it's clearly "lightly played" to "Near-mint". I had a $35 card in my trade bundle, and I got $0.50 cents for it, and I'm still confused as to WHY. So, 2 weeks later, I went into the store to "Shop" and I saw my exact card for sale (the one that I had sold them) for a price of $23 bucks. Therefore, me selling it to them for 0.50 cents, ended up helping them profit $22.50 . NOT ON MY WATCH, NEVER AGAIN WILL I GET "TAKEN" LIKE THAT. That's what makes me scared to bring my heavy hitters/chase cards in there to sell. Jawbreakers is an awesome place to shop, they are reasonably priced, BUT... I would refrain from selling them your Pokemon TCG cards. Media Reload is still HANDS DOWN the best place to sell your singles. They give me 60 percent of the value for each card that I sell (also based on condition of course). I just wanted to give other collectors a heads up. Great place to purchase cards, but not so great when it comes to...
Read moreTons of selection from big name TCGs like Magic, Pokemon, Yugioh, and Flesh & Blood as well as a lot of more obscure card games that I don't see often. They have an extensive sports collection side as well with display cases and many binders for both sides.
Since I first entered in, I felt welcome and the vibe of the store is very casual and approachable. It doesn't feel snobby or hardcore like a lot of other stores that have long running customer groups filling up all the tables. If you come in, I'd recommend chatting with Steve, he was able to provide me a lot of precautions on hobby collection and I felt confident making my purchases there. Their products are reasonably priced, unlike every other store in a 20 mile radius around them, a notable example is them keeping their One Piece TCG price below the absurd cost that other stores are selling them for.
I've seen the workers sit down one-on-one to make sure customers understand the values of their collections/singles that they're selling to the store, if you have a problem with their price, look it up and ask! They provided me with explanations for all their prices. I really feel like they're looking out for my best interest when I'm shopping there. I'm definitely going to be a regular here for all my tcg hobby needs. Can't wait to see...
Read morePredatory scalping prices, but I shouldn't have been so surprised based on previous visits.
Went in to grab the new commander precon, the rep told me it was new and so he had to ask someone about the price.
Went into the back and is visibly scrolling on his phone (which we'll assume is him texting his contact, and not looking up street prices since it's a hot product).
Came back 5 minutes later asking a $20 (40%) markup over big box stores (and $25 over other smaller stores in the area like media reload); I expected and was willing to pay a slight markup because of popularity, but that's insane.
I just ordered the exact precon from target for $20 less, with...
