Savory Grill — Restaurant in Utica

My boyfriend and I decided to try this restaurant on our Friday date night. We didn't expect it to be anything fancy but with 4.6 stars we also did not expect the poor quality of food we received. He got a burger and fries, which is pretty standard, however after 3 bites he couldn't even finish. Ordered medium, it was delivered well done and flavorless. The fries tasted purely of old oil grease that had been used for cod dinner possibly? Based on our waitresses recommendation, I ordered the chicken kabobs. The mashed potatoes looked liked a scoop of cold lard and the gravy (if you can call it that) was delivered with a thick film layer. The chicken was tuff and seemed to have been old and just re-heated as opposed to being grilled fresh. I ate 2 bites. Our waitresses came back some time after we had both stopped eating and we politely said we were ready for the bill. Seeing both plates still full, barley touched, she pressed if something was wrong. We told her our issues and although she was friendly enough, she still let us pay full price for our uneaten meals. She did hand us a gift certificate as we were walking out, however, we have no intention of trying again. I would say the 4.6 star review was misleading at best.

We took my mother for a Christmas/New Year's lunch. We hadn't been to Savory Grill in quite a while, and it has really changed. It was good before, and it is really good now. Having a roller walker and five people can sometimes cause a bit of trouble, but Savory has a small seating area that is away from the main area This was perfect for us, and we were able to visit and hear each other without any worry of someone tripping on a walker, or Mom not being able to hear what was being said. The food was terrific, the slim jim made with real ham was a hit with Mom, and she had more food than she could finish. I didn't have a take out box, because I enjoyed my ham and cheese omelette so much that I ate the whole thing. The hamburgers were rated very highly, with comment's n the flavor, and one of the better burgers. The spaghetti with marinara was also rated highly, by my vegetarian daughter, who finished her takeout by dinner The two take out boxes that came home were both gone by dinner. I ordered take out this evening, over the phone I asked if I could get the pita bread sampler with Ranch instead of Greek and the lady on the phone told me that would be no problem. Well I picked up my order and found once I got home it was Greek. Now I was a little disappointed but I love the saying "it's not a big deal don't make it one", you got ranch at home use that. Well I decided to try the Greek and oh my goodness! I despise Greek dressing but this Greek dressing was OMG so good! It did not remind me at all of Greek dressing that I am used to. So just because you don't like Greek, don't underestimate this Greek because I loathe Greek dressing and LOVED Savory Grills Greek dressing! And of course there is so much other good food here like the chicken pita, soups, salads, so much more! I have only had one negative experience here and it was with service not the food but that was awhile ago and I haven't seen that particular waitress since so perhaps she no longer...
