Rainbow Shops — Local services in Vallejo

I used to shop here regularly for YEARS because it’s the closest one to me. I interviewed to work here recently and now I understand why they’re always urgently hiring. The manager Chelsea is VERY racist and rude. I tried to reschedule the interview with her because I had caught strep throat a day before my interview. The day of my interview I called again about rescheduling because she hadn’t returned any of my calls. The day of the last minute interview, we spoke on the phone and she kept cutting me off and telling me to apply online which made no sense because we were past a submission of my application. When I tried to remind her that I’m the interviewee who caught strep throat she cut me off and said loudly “ I KNOW THAT”. So I was about to tell her never mind I would never work for you but then she got her tone together and scheduled an interview. Then I got a call from an employee there asking if I can come in that day for the interview. I decided to go in against my better judgment. When I got there she didn’t speak to me or acknowledge me at all. I saw her looking at me and whispering in another employees ear like a mean high school girl. Even when it was time for my interview she didn’t greet me or tell me who she was, she just came up to me and took my documents out of hand then had me follow her to the back with the district manager. During my interview she referred to me as a MONKEY( I am a dark skinned Afro Latina). I had to bite my tongue because I’m the type to cuss you out violently. The demographic of shoppers is usually black woman as anyone that shops here would know. I wish I could say I’m surprised at her audacity to say that in front of the district manager who was a part of the interview, but I’m not as the DM said nothing to her and was treating me like she was surprised at my vernacular and how I carried myself. I never followed up with them like I suggested I would, because I know that I would regularly check Chelsea on her racism and that thought alone is draining. Now they lost out on a potential employee with great work ethic and customer service skills, as well as a long term customer.

I have the right to share my experience and the people have a right to know what type of employees they might deal with if they choose to shop at this location. I knew there was a reason why I don't come to the store, I went in there looking for address and the associate rudely asked me what I was looking for without giving me the chance to look at the inventory. How am I supposed to know what I wanted if I didn't know what they had in stock, and she repeatedly kept asking me what I wanted. The associates were all gathered around in the huddle no greeting and no asking for assistance. They were very rude, I knew there was a reason why I don't go there and now I remember why. Clothes are great selections I only rate because I walked hearing the lady at the counter as what is she doing here. I don't even know these people. I just know you are thinking of you because they're either their family business from some horrific experience with my ex is no longer around or it's from social media which is also horrific experience that is not at all correct that guy's only giving people the thought that it's okay to be judgemental. Whatever it was it was enough for them to ignore me as they walked up to pay for an outfit and was not even recognized as anyone standing there.
