I signed up for a black card membership and attempted to use it on day one with my son as a guest. They wanted his school ID and birth certificate before they would let him in. They claimed it was in the policy when I signed up. It was not. The manager stepped in for the person I spoke with and was confrontational about it being policy. I asked him to cancel my membership as I could not use it. He graciously stated he would and then asked me to sign an electronic pad without showing me what I was supposed to sign. Speaking with other black card members I know, they have never been asked for birth certificates or school IDs for their children at their Planet Fitness locations. The club agreement only mentioned signing a liability waiver form for those under 18 and above 13.
I went back and spoke with Justin, same person that stepped in previously, and he was much nicer and calmly pointed out that it is a "verbal policy", which is mentioned briefly under the rules section of the agreement. We then discussed that it is only a franchisee rule and not corporate policy. It's unfortunate that the one local to me and the next closest one are both owned by the same franchisee. I eagerly await the opening of the new community center and hope they offer affordable gym options for families.
As an update after reaching out via the social media request, I was asked to contact the club to have the regional manager reach out to me. Justin at the club stated there was no regional manager and he was the only in charge of enforcing the policies but he also has no control in making those policies. I reached back out to the social media people and they have gone silent so just because they respond on here doesn't mean they actually care. I advise everyone to find another gym and not patronize...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the rudest, most unprofessional, scam of a gym! Go elsewhere! There are sooo many better gyms that donāt employ miserable narcissists with fragile egos who take it out on customers. After repeatedly telling this establishment that I do not want a membership here, I am still being falsely billed. Their customer service in the Philippines canāt help so you have to come into the location. I came in to reiterate to the āmanagerā who insists on talking instead of listening, that I do not wish to continue being billed for a service I cannot use. Makes perfect sense right? Not on this āPlanet.ā šš After signing a cancellation agreement and telling Mr Fragile ego that I have to go and he can email me, he proceeds to get into a control drama and attempts to āthrow me outā when Iām already walking out the door. Who does that? Iām already leaving and plenty of times I told him that I did not have the time to get into it with him. Clearly heās aggressive, confrontational and wanted to argue. I just signed a cancellation agreement and expressed my distaste for this establishment and Iām walking out the door, why would a āmanagerā proceed to follow me out, attempt to make a scene, and threaten to ābanā me from a gym that Iām willfully leaving? Talk about rejection, control, and professionalism issues. Is this is what you call customer service Planet Fitness? I see plenty of reviews reflecting on poor management and your organization needs to do a better job at employing people that know how to treat people. You might want to also include some mental healthcare because this guy clearly has mental health issues to personalize a cancellation and proceed to act out on his perceived rejection. We go to the gym for wellness. Not to deal with unhealthy, toxic employees with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was over charged in fees at this gym. I had owed a balance from a previous account that I at the time was unaware of when I had gotten a new card and membership contract. Moving forward Planet fitness allowed for me to start another membership. I went to the gym twice using the new membership and was stopped after about the 3rd time of having been. Only to be made aware that I owed a balance and could no longer attend the gym. I paid balance and then out of no where I was charged more fees for a 3rd account that suddenly appeared from 2017 so now I owe fees of $165. Planet Fitness continued to charge me for this new account knowing I wasn't able to use. In which isn't fare. I never got to enjoy the benefits of the new membership that I had gotten due to some old accounts that appeared after I had already paid on one of them. I shouldn't owe anything after the day they told me I could no longer attend the gym due to issues with the 2nd or 3rd account which ever it was. There should not have been any fees added on to new account until the old ones were resolved. You can't give someone a new membership and then say oops you can't use it anymore until the old ones are resolved. I shouldn't have been able to get a new membership if fees were owed. Now they have gotten my money for one old account and ended up adding on more fees for a account they knew I wasn't going to be able to use. I have filled a complaint...
