This 24 Hour Fitness Club at 131st Avenue and 4th Plain has both a Police and LGBT gay grapevine working in it, near invisibly. After a few weeks of coming here, another Club Member, likely with police-supporter affiliation said that I "trespassed" in the TRX workout area. I asked that “member” to explain himself to the management. As we approached the front desk, he walked out. This Club Member was serious about doing something about me over something petty. Another member said in the shower area, “Don’t let it happen again if you intend to be a member of this Club.”
On another occasion weeks later, I overheard another male Member say, "Get some complaints [on him]," meaning on me. As I keep to myself, that might be hard to do--to generate complaints--though police can and do generate ill-will easily. They'll just say you "looked" at someone--or you rode your bike in a given neighborhood, as if "prowling"--even if in your own neighborhood. They tend to use their women- supporters or spouses or attractive stand-ins for that. They usually want "multiple complaints" along any line--to consensus-build.
More than once at this Club locale, two different Manager men would stand at the front desk, hovering, eating grapes as I came in (to signal "sour grapes" or grapes of "wrath") to note if you were unduly impatient if the front desk clerk could not find your name in the computer, after showing your ID or saying your name. For some reason, my name was hard to find. The irksome part is that a male Manager would note your demeanor if your name was not found quickly, expecting impatience, to consensus-build on your seemingly "crude" nature (decades of subtle "electric shock" can ruin lives.) Two female clerks did well on this, having had a meeting on me, but male Club Members or male Managers with local police or local security affiliation could frustrate the best attempts at the great PR that was effected by two front desk women who could sense what was really happening. It was low-key browbeating of another kind by male Members/Manager(s), with police affiliation.
Two gay men noted any birthmarks on my person as I changed in the locker room. The only thing missing was a cell-phone picture of them. Privacy?
At another branch of this Club, a male Member was asked for a "sponsorship" in the locker room by another male Visitor. That Club Member with police or security affiliation around town said he could not "sponsor"--but who volunteered me as I was walked to my locker as if at random. This was done to raise expectations that I would help with monetary aid to another Visitor to this Club. This became unnerving as a man is standing over you as you change in the locker room--expecting money--who you do not know who is speaking with a foreign accent. I reported that older Club Member to the front desk, likely a police supporter or low-key provocateur, treating this Fitness Club as a police "front," depending on who walked in, and for volunteering my face to someone I did not know. This was done to make adversaries for me and to annoy.
At the Columbia Tech branch of this Club in E. Vancouver, perhaps to extend an Olive Branch after these several exchanges, I overheard a Club Member wearing a "CERT" shirt [Community Emergency Response Team] with police affiliation telling another Member, "He helped with WMD's [re: Iraq] when they were not found...until further notice." As if THAT is how I would be played in the grapevine before too much happened, but that could change "until further notice." As if this was not true if someone decided it was not true.
More than once, I was shocked remotely in the VC parking lot(s) of these (branch) Club(s), as I drove off.
After careful consideration, I ended my membership here, as Club management or Club Members with Police or LGBT affiliation, perhaps as Hooverites, spread me around--and to nit-pick--in ways that were not predictable--or comforting. I am an honorably discharged U.S. Armed Forces Veteran. What shock? Write the Attorney...
Read moreThis establishment deserves no stars. They do not honor 3 day pass that is on the 24 hour website. Rude unprofessional employees that offer no customer service. My father and I decided to come here tonight. My fiancé has not been to a gym in years and decided he wanted to try it out. He went on their website and saw a 3 day pass available for trying out the gym. Requirements stated " User must not have been a guest or member of 24 Hour Fitness within the last 6 months. Photo ID required. Local residents only." Upon arriving he sat down with a guy whose name tag read (Tyson). He was speaking to him about memberships and information. He was interested in trying out/feeling out the gym before deciding whether or not he wants to get a membership. No where does it state on the fine print details that he has to give the answer yes to obtain the 3 day pass. The guy was angry he didn't have a yes answer for him and stated "why would I want to give you a 3 day pass if you don't know what you want yet (membership)." He stated "I'm not going to play this game with you." He became extremely rude and changed his nice demeanor to a rude belittling tone. He called over his manager meriel meyers who came over agreed and denied my fiancé. I asked the guy where my fiancé was and he had told me "I'm not going to argue with you, I'm not letting him in." He would not even converse with me without catching an attitude. He said to me that his name is not Tyson and that he is wearing some one else's name tag and his actual name is "tanner jackson." I don't know what his name is. I don't know how he is employed here with such unprofessional manners. He was very rude and would not give any explanation and even went on to tell me that my fiancé cussed at him and was rude so therefore he was not going to let him in which I know we're all lies. This establishment is far too money hungry that they cannot even treat people with kindness and respect. Why would I or anybody want a membership here now if this is how they treat customers. This was our first time here and I have nothing but a distasteful feel from it. I really am disappointed and will share that this is the type of establishment that does not care for their potential customers. For anyone who is wanting to try this location out, DONT. And they probably will refuse you anyways for no...
Read moreI joined 2 weeks ago… unfortunately, I didn’t have time to really check out the place on the day that I signed up.. but let me tell you it’s SERIOUSLY DISGUSTING! 🤢 🤮 It is a shame that such a beautiful place is kept so filthy! I’ve seen the same filth & grime and hair on the yoga / spin & dance class studio floor since the past 2 weeks, So that means nobody has mopped and cleaned that floor for at least two weeks ! Can you imagine all the body sweat that is being built up?🤮🤮🤮
There is Questionable 💩 stains on the plastic shower curtains… Most of the showers don’t drain properly, so the disgusting water that washed all those smelly bodies backs up to your ANKLES!
The sauna has never been wiped down or cleaned, because the amount of grime that has accumulated on the wood floor and benches clearly shows that … The steam room is nonfunctional but somehow still wet and smells like a dirty sock… There’s constantly bottles, cans , all kinds of garbage all over the swimming & locker area… The hot tub has been half full with the same filthy water for over a week….
This is really upsetting for me because going to the gym with my daughter is one of the few activities we love to do together,,, And I hate to disappoint her and tell her that I can’t go through this filth anymore because When I come home from the gym I swear to you, I am itchy and I get these little red itchy bumps on my feet and legs…
When I called to make a complaint, The lady on the phone actually told me that this location does not have management !!! NO MANAGEMENT!!! That Must be some sort of health code violation… after everything we’ve been through with COVID and the lockdowns you would think that 24 Hour Fitness would do better! It’s literally a public health violation… HIRE MORE STAFF!!! And...
