I have been taking my 2.5 year old son to City Play consistently for 6 months now and I can honestly say that this is our absolute favorite play place to visit! The play space is so well kept and beyond CLEAN which I love. They rotate their toys frequently and always have different activities out for the kids to play with. The staff does an incredible job cleaning and putting toys away in between kids playing but it never feels like it interferes with the kids playing/being creative. The staff is beyond polite! The owner Greg is great with guests and interacts kindly towards his own staff. I’ve heard him edify his wife on multiple occasions on how great of a job she’s done with the decor and the different play areas they offer. We always run into the assistant manager Megan and she’s incredibly sweet and always greets us as well as other guests by name. She always makes my son and I feel special. Santiago is also one of our favorite staff members. He is always in there working hard with a kind smile on his face. All of the other staff members are really wonderful too! They seem to have a really great team there. At the end of our play time we are always asked if we had fun and my son gets a sticker which he loves. I appreciate that the staff interacts with my son because it gets him talking. I love their little snack area with healthy snacks/water/coffee etc that they offer for sale. It makes it very convenient. In their restrooms they have many supplies that are available to customers for our convenience like a changing table, wipes, diapers etc. They also have a toddler chair and a toddler step stool to make hand washing easy for the kids. My son and I have attended some of their special events for the holidays which are our favorite. They go above and beyond to create a true experience for the kids and they make it such a memorable event for that specific holiday. I’ve got some pretty neat pictures of my son with their beautiful picture backdrops that they provide for that specific event which I’m grateful for.
In all honesty not one detail has been overlooked here. Seriously top notch in all areas and I feel like that’s really hard to find these days. Overall City play is truly a one of a kind place not only for kids but for the parents too. Anytime I meet other Moms I always recommend this place to them! We look forward to lots and lots play dates in our future...
Read moreLOVE LOVE LOVE this place! We very much needed this indoor play place in East Vancouver! We were so exhausted having to go across the bridge for fun indoor experiences!
I love that there are areas for physical play (big blocks, legit indoor playground), areas for sensory play (I dislike having kinetic sand in my home so I am so stoked to find it there complete with construction cars etc!), and imaginative play (veterinarian office, grocery store, cafe, etc!).
I also love that they rotate toys routinely (never the exact same experience! table top activities/games change etc). I love that they have all the games I would like (think Melissa&Doug/Montessori etc) but never quite have room for! There is also such fun unique toys (we love the pulley/basket system built in the playground, there's a parachute guy launcher thing, etc)
I recommend getting the play pass- higher up front cost, but lowers each visit by $2.50! It is great option for if you have babysitters/grandparents/caretakers who need an idea of what to do with kiddos as kids can lead with play!
I love this as an option for playdates because kids share easier when it's not their personal favorite toys in their room. I also feel like it's more relaxed than going to someone's home because I don't have to worry about my kids breaking non-kid things because everything is kid friendly!
I love that the space is big enough for my kids to be immersed in their play, but not so big I cannot keep an eye on them! It's the perfect "play with multiple children without panicking" space
Lastly, the owners are just amazing! You can tell they have little ones (uhm, an emergency diaper/wipes stash in the bathroom?!) and you can tell they really put SO much thought into this place!! I really feel like it was so safe and clean! I love sending my babysitters/family members with my kids because I know the staff is keeping a watchful eye and both adults/kids have a good time!
The only thing I am sad about are the limited hours on the weekends, but that is mostly because they have birthday party options! So consider them next kiddo birthday party you have!
Highly recommend 10/10! Go support this local...
Read moreWe live in Milwaukie and discovered this place when our babysitter brought our toddler here on a day out a couple weeks ago, and it was the perfect spot to meet up yesterday with a friend who lives on that side of the river.
Everyone on staff is really friendly and engaged with the parents and toddlers. We had an especially great experience with Jas/Jazz (not sure how to spell her name, sorry!) who is truly excellent at her job. They are constantly walking around and reorganizing and cleaning up toys so all the stations are ready for play.
The play space is incredible! Every station is spotlessly clean, beautiful and perfectly themed with miniature versions of a cafe, home, firehouse, vet, market, farmyard, and gas station! There’s a school bus the kiddos can climb in, a play structure with a fast and fun slide, sensory stations and activity tables. The kiddos in our group especially loved the fan system that makes the play silks fly and the market where they got to fill carts with miniature grocery items and check them out at the register.
There’s no outside food allowed to accommodate for allergies but they do have snacks available for purchase, though I didn’t check prices. Admission is really reasonable for an hour and a half playtime. The bathroom is wonderfully family friendly with a toddler toilet seat, toddler seat with straps, and footstool at the sink, and it’s even stocked with diapers, wipes, and feminine supplies that you’re welcome to use which I thought was a really nice touch.
My one and only criticism is very minor - that the employee room/stock room have a door or baby gate in place of the current curtain. My toddler ran in there a few times and I had to chase him out. Beyond that it was an absolutely perfect experience and we’ve already decided with our friend that we’ll be bringing our kiddos every couple of weeks to...
