Some of the rudest and most judgemental employees/people I have ever seen. If you aren't white and look like you have money you can guarantee that you will be followed! And not just the occasional employee asking if you are finding everything ok but litterly almost every employee almost breaking their neck to watch you! I had photos and video a while ago but didn't want to waste my phone space with negative garbage! Also a couple of years ago there was an older lady that was security supposedly and she litterly stopped me and my fiance after only being in there for 10 mins and demanded that he empty his pockets, when asked why she said that she saw him steal mini sea shell off of the display! He laughed and denied it and said he wasn't going to empty his pockets because she had no actual reason to even ask. She then reached for his pocket and he shoved her hand away and said fine and emptied his pockets. With both hands open and pockets pulled all the way out like bunny ears, he showed her the contents in his pockets. All he had was a pen (from the doctor’s office), 2 receipts from other stores all crumbled up, a string from his pants, keys, and his lighter. Instantly she pointed at his hand that had the sting and lighter and yelled " that! That right there is ours! You need to pay for that!" We were confused and asked what she was talking about and she pointed at the string and repeated herself. She looked at the other employees who looked just as confused as we did and she demanded that he be kicked out and had to pay for the string! So we laughed (cuz it is straight comical at this point! Lmfao) and we went up to the front to "pay for the string" and the worker looked super confused. She called manager and asked how to ring up a piece of string (which btw was only like 1.5in long!) The manager couldn't figure it out either and just told us to leave, which we gladly did! But it's too bad cuz the store it's self is pretty awesome and I LOVE how they have art projects done by the workers to show shoppers different ways they can...
Read moreI've been going to this location since it opened and have never had an issue until today. Today I was there wearing a mask and headphones, as well as brought my own reusable bag to shop with; all of which allow me to have a comfortable and low stimulation experience. Within approximately 15min, I noticed 4-5 employees within my periphery at all times. Was asked if I needed help, had a break in my music which allowed me to hear her, I declined help. About 10 min later as I was looking at something, I was startled by being approached by one of these employees. She informed me that I needed to use of if their baskets and came off very accusatory in tone - this caused my anxiety to peak as I felt she profiled me as someone who had sinister motives. She doubled down that they do this with everyone, however I've shopped with a reusable at this location before with no issue. My only assumption is due to the fact I was wearing a bandana on my head - not that I feel it matters, but it was black with white skull/crossbones on it.
If it weren't for the fact that other shops didn't have the items I was looking for I would have left. Through out my shopping experience AFTER being made to use a basket, 2 of the employees were I felt shadowing me for the remainder of my time shopping - one or both of them were within the same isle as me seconds after I'd turned into it.
I didn't feel welcome and felt very judged and profiled for what I felt was not an issue in the slightest. I suggest you dk sensitivity training to recognize coping skills for those that are on the spectrum, as well as to sustain from further tailing after a customer has agreed to do what was asked of them. I've worked security, I know the difference between being monitored and just casually running into the...
Read moreSeems the way I was treated is a common thing at this store!! From the moment I walked in I was looked at as if I didn't belong. I even asked right away if I needed to leave my backpack up front & was told no.. As I was Christmas shopping I was followed everywhere by Ellen & 1 other younger woman with dark brown to black long hair in a ponytail.(a few others at times but mainly these two) Was I taking my time looking at different things, yes I was but that's also what made me end up putting other things in my cart. Do I take a little bit longer to decide or work thru things, yes but maybe cause I'm going thru CANCER treatment/BRAIN TUMOR removal & my brain isn't functioning like normal. I can't even feel normal going shopping in a craft store, I've got to be made to feel like I have to be watched like a child rather than a 41 year old woman. Absolutely ridiculous & deplorable. Was I texting my wife to ask questions & get help at times, sure was didn't know I couldn't!! I finally stopped & asked Ellen how much longer she was gonna follow me around to which she replied about another hour and a half if you're still here! ARE YOU SERIOUS!? I ended up not buying a damn thing & will be spreading the word to my extended family on how I was treated. The $200-$300 I would have spent probably doesn't mean much to them but it should because now they'll lose a lot more customers & money than that. I will also be contacting my attorney. I'm done being mistreated. I imagine this will also make a good human interest story for the news...."Local craft store demeans & belittled woman fighting for her life trying to...
