I was a client of Louis for what would've been five years straight as of next year. I never canceled, never was late, and never no showed. I always booked months in advance, always paid & tipped, and never was a hassle. I was extremely gracious and said thank you every single time Louis did my nails (and toes) and Bree did my eyebrow wax.
I had my final appointment with Louis & Bree on November 30th. I checked in and noticed my wax was at 5 pm and my fill was set for 5:30 pm. This was new, and usually my fill would be exactly 15 mins later so I was confused. I noted it, had my wax w/ Bree, then waited only a few minutes past for Louis to finish with his client. Louis did my nails and did great as per usual (I will never downgrade his ability and talent no matter how I feel), and he even mentioned booking another appointment the next time I come in since my next appt I needed would've been in February (which they didn't have the books ready for yet).
My mother came in to pay and inquired about the 5:30 pm fill time in a calm way, genuinely asking if it was an error by the receptionist (which we presumed -- mainly because they keep having new receptionists and some are learning and make mistakes). This was a bad idea as both Louis & Bree became very defensive and started talking about how "accommodating" they are for me and started harping on how he was only a few minutes late. However, if my fill was at 5:30, Louis wasn't late at all. I just wanted to know if it was an error on someone's part or if it was a new change. I didn't mind either way, it was just communication to figure that out. Louis kept saying I could come on different days to get both services separately, but I already specifically pick a day they both work and book in advance to ensure it's not a problem. It's also not realistic to make someone drive up on two separate days for services they could get in one day without issue. If I was booking last minute, I'd understand, but I was not.
After hearing how the conversation went, I made sure to text Louis that same night to ensure he knew I had no issue with any "lateness". I said he's always punctual and it's not a problem. I apologized if things were misinterpreted and clarified I just wanted to make sure that in the future I wouldn't be sitting for 15 mins in between, as my appts are already late at night. I also offered to change my wax with Bree to 4:45 pm and my fill to 5 pm if that's what they prefer to ensure no gap (if the gap was intentional and not an error -- nobody seemed to clarify this part, so I couldn't tell if it was defensiveness because it was someone's error or if it was because this was how it was going to be and they didn't want to be questioned on it [though they hadn't communicated this to me at any point and that's the only reason there was a discussion about it in the first place]).
I was surprised to wake up to a text saying that Bree & Louis no longer will service me as a client anymore and canceled my appointments. What makes it worse is they both know my dad had died only two months ago, and I had gotten a back procedure only two days prior to my appt and I still showed up. They were also at my graduation dinner back in April or May, so it wasn't simply I'm just a random nobody client. I told them in response that I felt it was pretty harsh to cut me as a client after the loss of my father and doing this during the holidays, too. Especially since I was a loyal client for four years straight. All over a mere question. The "accommodating" was reciprocal, I had come in early for some appts at Louis's request many times to help him out whenever I didn't have a scheduling conflict (even as recently as my previous appt November 9th). It's not "accommodating" to me when I booked with Louis years before he stopped taking new clients and I'm booked months in advance and always show up, imo. He was the one who offered to start doing pedicures for me as well
I don't know, things have changed here lately so maybe this is for the best. I'm going to respect their decision...
Read moreThe first appointment, which I thought I was getting a mani/pedi with acrylics, turned out to be just a mani/pedi(miscommunication between receptionist and I). So there was still dead skin around my toenails after the appointment. My nails, which I left bare so I could get acrylics at another appt now, were left different lengths, one broken, hang nails, and dead skin. I was charged full price(and I tipped), but after speaking to owner, he agreed money off of a full set acrylics and design. The day of my acrylic appointment, which was two days later, I received 4 phone calls from them. 2 confirming and 2 about changing times. I had gone to the Instagram and chosen the designs I wanted. I knew what I wanted. I was hesitant because I didn’t recognize the name of the manicurist who would be doing my nails, but whatever. I told her about the dead skin and said she might need to get it, but she didn’t. I did show her the state my nails were left in when I had the original manicure. Fast forward to applying nails, she got glue all over my fingers. My nails were superglued to my skin on the side. While filing, she cut open the side of my left pinky. While applying the clear gel base, I noticed bubbles and said something but she brushed it off. Most of the nails have bubbles and one has fuzz or a hair painted into it? She kept getting polish on my skin and a few nails have finger prints. Now, I wanted hot pink nails. One nail to be cheetah and another to be sparkly crystals. She made up some reason about the sparkles/crystals but I said “no, I want them”. At this point my skin hurt from the super glue, I was frustrated because she wasn’t doing the sparkles/crystals like the picture I wanted and I just wanted to be done and leave. I was over it. What I wanted and what I got(with sparkles/crystals) was disappointing. These are my VERY first acrylics. I know there shouldn’t be glue, there shouldn’t be polish on skin, there should be bubbles or finger prints or gobs of stuff under the nails. While $10 was taken off, I paid the same price as I did for the mani/pedi. Of course I tipped, because that’s who I am. I just wanted to leave, so I said nothing. Both times were horrible experiences. They cost more and have great reviews too, I expected more. My friend had just got her nails done and they were beautiful! So I wanted the same. Highly disappointed and I don’t like my nails and...
Read moreI've been going here for about 2 years. I was already getting annoyed with them because pricing is never consistent. It 100% depends on who does your nails, what you will be charged. I always get the same thing done and price can range between $45-65 and you never know what you're going to get.
The final straw for me was this last experience. I had to go back to have them fix my nails in since 3 of them broke within the first two days. I have had to have the fixed there twice. The first time I was told policy is getting them done within a week, they're free. The person who fixed them was not the person who did them originally. When I told him which ones to fix he told me they redo the all because they want them to look uniform. Ok, cool.
This experience was not that way. I got an appointment within a week. I spoke openly to the new lady about why I was there and what she was fixing. When she started to give me a full set I didn't think anything of it due to my experience last time. When I was finished I went to leave and was told I had to pay. I explained that I didn't and relayed how my first fixing experience went. I was told it was a new tech so I had to pay. Then I was told it was due to getting a full set. Then I was told it was due to being more than 3 days after the initial appointment. All completely contradicts their policies from the first time.
In the end they made me pay and charged me more than I had paid for the set that was getting fixed. No apology, no discount, nothing. I was offered a 10% discount for the next time I was there and that was it.
This place changes their pricing depending on who is working. They change their policies depending on who is working. If you want zero customer service when something goes wrong and you're comfortable never knowing what you'll pay, this is the place for you. Otherwise, save your money and go somewhere else. They don't do any better job than the other salons...
