Tldr: the store in ran by hipsters who dont support blue policies, not all but enough to be glaring
This was a very disappointing visit. Normally I wouldn't write these but in good faith, you should fire your store manager. I'm very pro blue policy, fish and hunt.
The store itself flows left but some of the items were displayed incorrectly. I picked up four shirts in their gem cave/repair shop section to try on they sent security over and not a staff member, who then sent me to the women's fitting rooms and not the men's. If the purpose of this was to say I'm not the person to support your cause or brand, I agree with latter of that. The staff were pretty clueless and there were signs posted warning you of such. Even without the uniformed security prescence, the fashion from a flagship I found severely lacking. Cuts were wrong, labels were missing, pockets not where they're suppose to be. I come from a magnificent mile of flagships, this was not it.
I met a hipster who I chatted with for a few minutes who didn't give a title, walked away after I asked a question and security approached right after. If you were ever like me and wondered why patagonia never really fits right, it's bc they're hipsters.
GL guys I support your cause but I won't be supporting you with my money. Support your cause better, fire your flagship manager, hire better designers, hang your t-shirts up like the boutiques in Hollywood off melrose. Also, your hidden gem room should be your basement, this is la afterall. Maybe then you'll see my money again. Although ive never used the warranty, it seems like a huge scam by not taking in t-shirts or beanies. I'll be throwing out my patagonia and replacing it with Carhartt....
Read moreCame here looking for more Patagonia clothes like I always am, on a day out with my wife of five years this weekend. Ended up being followed by every employee in the store asked if we needed something or help constantly. As I browsed around because I had never been to an actual Patagonia store, the security guard from the parking lot was sent indoors, and began following my wife and I around the store, just standing in the corners of whatever section we entered. As I picked out a MIIR+ mug and some food items to take home, the security guard was again moved and posted at the entrance/register for no reason other than we were in the area. I don’t know if it’s because I’m an athletic, tall, man with tattoos, or the fact that my wife has tattoos or that she’s mixed race. But she was made VERY uncomfortable. We were very clearly being followed, to which I had brushed off my wife’s early concerns until every room I entered look at packs or clothes, the security guard stood by in the corner for no other reason than that we clearly didn’t fit Patagonia’s bill for who should shop there.
I paid my $70 some odd dollars for the mug, honey, and bison jerky and left. But I will, never be buying another Patagonia item in my life. I disappointing because I love Patagonia and what it stands for. I expected more of this place, especially being a flagship store, full of inclusivity posters at the entrance, I expected more from these people. Very disappointed. I have my receipt to show proof of the dates and time, and what I bought as well, if anyone doubted this was...
Read moreThis flagship Patagonia store, which is located next-door to their corporate headquarters slightly to the northwest, is done so well and really exudes the same Patagonia style that you see in their products. To give some context you will see Great Pacific Iron Works written across the top of the store, which was Patagonia's first store, opened in 1973 in the former Hobson meat-packing plant, near Chouinard's blacksmith shop, which is another product line and name you’ll see often in their clothing.
This part of Ventura is extremely sleepy so it’s very easy to find a free street spot and there is also some EV charging available as well. The staff here is very friendly and always very attentive so it’s one of the best parts about visiting. There are many different rooms inside divided by product type and there is even a tiny little museum area with all sorts of pictures and facts about the former building and Ventura.
One of my favorite things about coming here is they tend to have some Ventura specific, or limited run products that you won’t see in some of their larger bigger city stores. So you can really find some stuff that would otherwise be hard to find online or out of state. I try to stop here every time I pass through Ventura and would recommend to anyone else to do the same. They have products for men, women, and children, so there really is something...
