Surfer's Point at Seaside Park: A California Dream Come True

Surfer's Point at Seaside Park isn't just a beach, it's an experience. Nestled in Ventura, California, this little gem offers a slice of Californian bliss that caters to surfers, beach bums, and everyone in between. Whether you're chasing waves, soaking up the sun, or picnicking with a view, Surfer's Point has something for everyone.

A Surfer's Paradise

As the name suggests, surfing is the main attraction here. The point itself faces south, creating consistent west swells that attract surfers of all levels. You'll see experienced riders carving down impressive waves, while beginners can catch gentler ones closer to shore. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, with surfers happy to share tips or just chat about the conditions.

But Surfer's Point isn't just for surfers. Paddleboarders, kayakers, and even windsurfers can enjoy the calm waters of the lagoon formed by the Ventura River mouth. And if you're looking for a more relaxed activity, stand-up paddleboarding offers a serene way to explore the coastline.

A Beach for All Seasons

Surfer's Point isn't just a summer destination. The wide, sandy beach is perfect for sunbathing year-round. Spread out a blanket, listen to the calming sound of the waves, and soak up the California sunshine. There's a spacious lawn area ideal for frisbee throwing, soccer games, or simply relaxing with a good book.

For those who like their beach time with a side of activity, there's plenty to do. The paved Omer Rains Bike Trail runs right next to the beach, offering a scenic route for cyclists and skaters. And if you're feeling peckish, there are barbecue grills and picnic tables scattered around the park, perfect for a...

Absolutely one of my favorite beach areas in Ventura! I have been coming here since I was a kid and still enjoy every visit. The walking/bike trail area and the promenade are wonderful for taking in the view, enjoying the fresh ocean breeze, and walking your fur babies. 🤗🌞 I have even seen people walking their goats down there. Almost everyone is very friendly and will greet one another with a smile or say hello. In addition, it's wheelchair and handicapped friendly.

It's one of the most popular spots for surfing, boogie boarding, swimming and playing in the water. The beach area is beautiful and there is miles of places to set up camp for a day full of fun and sun. If you have kids there is a great little playground with swings and other fun stuff to play on right next to the pier. Speaking of the pier, they're are 2 restaurants and a brewery on the pier. It's also a lovely spot to take a stroll, work on your photography skills, or to do some fishing off of.

Along the promenade you will be able to find 2 more restaurants. If none of those suit your needs, then it's just a short walk to downtown were a plethora of food choices can be found. If you are visiting and need a hotel, the Crown Plaza is a nice place to stay and just about every room has an ocean view. There is also a Marriott close by as well.

If you can't find parking at the free parking lot at the Point, there are several, low cost parking lots sprinkled along the way. It's also right next to the Ventura County Fairgrounds which often has something going on.

So, if you find yourself in Ventura and want to enjoy the ocean and friendly people, this is a great place to do it. I hope you love it as much as my...

Surfers Point in Ventura is a revered, yet challenging, surf spot that delivers exhilarating rides for experienced surfers. Its reputation as a haven for intermediate to advanced locals is well-earned, offering powerful waves and dynamic conditions. However, this dynamism is a double-edged sword. The surf here is notoriously fickle, shifting dramatically throughout the day, demanding adaptability and local knowledge. The wave quality can be exceptional when conditions align, but consistency is a rarity. Swells vary wildly, and the point's exposure means it's susceptible to rapid changes in wind and tide. Crowds are equally unpredictable, ranging from sparse sessions to densely packed lineups. Localism is a significant factor at Surfers Point. Respect for the established hierarchy is paramount. Beginners and those unfamiliar with the etiquette are strongly advised to steer clear. The atmosphere can be intense, and a lack of awareness can lead to unpleasant encounters. This is a spot for those who possess both skill and a deep understanding of surf culture. In essence, Surfers Point offers thrilling surf for those who know how to navigate its complexities. It’s a place of fluctuating fortunes, where local knowledge and respect are as essential as...

This beachside memorial exudes a profound sense of peace and reflection, standing as a gentle reminder of both the beauty and fragility of life. Nestled between palm trees and overlooking the vast ocean, the tribute is simple yet deeply touching. The surfboard, adorned with “Rest in Peace,” and the surrounding stones painted with heartfelt messages and mementos speak of a community’s love and remembrance for a lost friend. The tranquil setting complements the solemnity of the memorial. The rhythmic crashing of waves, the soft rustling of palm fronds, and the warmth of the sun create a harmonious backdrop. It’s not just a place to remember, but also a space to find solace and healing by the sea. It serves as a meeting point for memories and emotions—a sanctuary for all who wish to pause, reflect, and honor. Beyond the memorial, the beach itself offers a serene escape, with its golden sands, inviting walkways lined with towering palms, and the distant pier stretching into the horizon. It’s a quintessential Californian scene, blending the laid-back atmosphere with a deep sense of connection and community spirit. Visiting this place feels like stepping into a quiet, sacred space on the edge of the world—a beautiful fusion of nature, remembrance, and peace.
