Well, I've been a member of this gym going on 5 years. I have also been a member with the other gym names since 1988 and I have lost a total of 190 lbs. I have also kept it off since 1998. I love Onelife Fitness. The equipment is out of this world. It's always kept running, the people are real nice. Most are willing to help you. I love the movie theatre section in the gym and the equipment you are able to use whilst watching a good movie and time flies before you know it. I cannot say enough about the wonderful classes and the come right along with your monthly fee of $29.00 or $39.00 depending on whether you put down your $149.00 for their fees.
Onelife has numerous deals and they don't make a spectacle about what you pay for. I liked that. What I really love are the teachers aka Instructors who know who to teach classes. I love Onelife Fitness and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to lose weight. You join you get two sessions free with a trainer (I haven't had mine yet because I have medical issues right now). You can also use each of the gyms around the Hampton Roads area with a full gym pass. I really love that.
Then you have what are called the "Launches" every quarter. They are done several different ways and for me personally I love the "hard launches" where the rooms are set up and members and visitors are shown the new music, the new body pump moves, the cycle class workouts and so much more. There is also a new launch coming up beginning next week. Get ready everyone, come along, see what wonderful classes and workouts you can do... maybe even join! You will love and never regret it.
There is so much more I can say about Onelife Fitness, but I think you should see it for yourself. You'll love it as much as I do. Did I mention the new friends you may meet and get to know? Con in and see for yourself the wonderful world of workouts ....
THANK YOU SO MUCH ONELIFE FITNESS just being the very best gym facilities around,!!! You can do the small ones if you'd like, but I happen to love the camaraderie and structure of the classes and that's always made me stay and continue to go to the gym. So much so I worked my gym classes around my schedule lol
I LOVE ONELIFE FITNESS SO COME ON DOWN AND TAKE A TRIAL WEEKS WORTH OF CLASSES and see what you like to do. I bet you'd end up joining because you'd love the classes, too! Challenge yourselves. Come to any of the 6 or 7 Onelifes around the Hampton Roads area. Tell them Barbara Viscardi sent you!...
Read moreUpdate: My wife and I decided to give the kids club another shot since there has recently been a change in management at this location. I am pleased to say there’s been a significant improvement. The employees are not sitting around on their phones and are actually paying attention to the kids. I am switching to 4 stars because of this. I will keep updating. Hopefully this location gets up to 5 stars! (If this keeps going well/ they improve even more)
Love this gym. If you are an active gym goer and want a great place to workout then this is it! The facilities are amazing and the staff is very friendly.
(Would be 5 star but 2 because of this) However, I highly recommend finding a different gym if you have children. Onelife princess anne does not have a good kids club. It used to be great back in 2016,17,18 time frame. Now, it is a wild juggle where “kids” are watching your children. The management does not prioritize the kids club and safety of the children. The management can’t get a handle on their staff using their cell phones while they are supposed to be watching your kids and making sure they are okay. The issue seems to be ongoing and I doubt they will ever take the time to change it.
Other than this I love this gym and have been coming to it since it was a golds gym.
UPDATE:
Nothing has improved. Changed to 2 stars. The management doesn’t care to make any improvements to the kids club. The “adults” watching your children are blatantly on their phones out in the open. I walked in one time while one worker was holding a baby and on her phone at the same time. My kids leave the club and tell me that the workers ignore them and don’t listen to them when they try to talk to them. This gym is great but the complete disregard for the well-being of the club members children who go here is completely unsatisfactory. I’ve mentioned to management (my wife as well) that workers were watching videos on their cell phones with the children (one time while hiding in the slide so no one could see) but to no surprise, nothing is ever done.
In short, if my children couldn’t talk to me and tell me what is going on in the kids club, I wouldn’t bring them. The ratio of “workers to children is usually 1:10 if not more. If you are okay with a warm body watching Tiktok next to your children “watching” over them then this place is...
Read moreEdit: dropped the review even lower because of what they did to the big turf area (formerly the CrossFit zone). It is now sectioned off from regular gym users and is now only for those who have paid for personal trainers and people in a lifting class. I've seen the schedule for the classes, they run at the most 2-3 times a day for an hour at a time and usually have around 2-3 hours between each session. When they aren't having classes this room is completely empty aside from when a trainer takes a single client into the room. In that room there are 4 squat racks and deadlift platforms (half of the platforms in the entire gym) that are not able to be used for the bulk period of the gym being open.
I don't see why I can't use this equipment during off class hours, there was no problem before. I pay money to use the gym and now I pay the same amount for even less equipment. Fantastic
Everything below this point was in my initial review and so far everything is still the same.
I've been working out here for about 2 months almost daily and this is what I think so far. The gym is fine and has enough equipment to fulfill a variety of training styles, however I do have a few gripes that I think would massively improve the gym if they were addressed.
2/3 of all the deadlift platforms are attached to the squat racks and are close enough to each other that neither can be utilized at the same time. If management is reading this, please separate these because no one wants to deadlift 6 inches away from someone squatting.
Barbell clips are almost impossible to find anywhere other than the CrossFit zone. Usually this means if I want to use clips for a pressing movement, I have to walk all the way to that zone in order to get clips.
The barbells themselves have very smooth knurling and no middle knurl which makes squatting awkward and deadlifting more grip intensive (chalk is also not allowed which is a deal breaker for...
