I had a taste for wings... I wanted to try a local spot for dinner. So I settled on The Dirty Buffalo. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted and sat promptly. I wasn't sure what was on the menu so I was given a minute to look it over. Our server was very nice and pleasant. Unfortunately like we have had in the past and it's not our server's fault but party after party was sat. Our server had lots of tables to handle and they were across the restaurant. So we really never saw her for refills on drinks cause she was so busy. I got the Dirty Burg Plate In the style of the Rochester original, one hamburger patty piled over mac salad & crispy home fries and topped with Dirty Sauce. Served with white bread the price was 10.99. It was ok... The Dirty Sauce they call is a spicy chili with beef and no beans. The Mac salad is a savory Mac salad with no sweetness whatsoever. Also the hash brown / diced potatoes and we're not seasoned very well. The chili however was delicious and even had my nose running a bit. However when I cut into the burger patty I noticed that it was still pink and I don't do pink burgers. Well done and juicy for me. Some people like pink in their burger but not this guy. I also ordered a 10-piece traditional wing. The one sauce that was intriguing to me was the Maui Wowi sauce and it was rated 4 on their scale of heat which was Very Hot. I went in to try these wings and was disappointed. They were not spicy at all😓. The fry on them was great! Skin crispy, no breading, good size wings. But had no seasoning on them except for the sauce. I tried some of their baked beans side. They were good typical baked beans nothing special about them. But the Mac salad... Nope can't do that one again. I mean the cream cheese is an awesome idea and one I will have to use in the future. But it needed more seasoning or sugar or something to give it that wow factor. This is my review of The Dirty Buffalo restaurant in...
Read moreEdited but previous post at bottom...We stopped going after a few mess ups on our orders. Went back about 6 months later and after a weekly return visit for quite a while, ill update to 5 stars. I check the orders because sometimes they dont buff up the sides as charged for but it's good enough to keep going back every week.
My better half and I live near Hilltop so driving out to Princess Anne Rd should be a sign of our devotion to this sauce. Two bad experiences and I'm changing my mind. Last time, I waited 10 minutes past the "should be ready by" time and my side of dum dum sauce wasn't in the Togo bag and I mistakenly didn't check. Our tip is already on the order. If I'm tipping the Togo server, there's some expectation that the order will at least be right...right? We love this place though so when we wanted wings on our day off yesterday, we tried again. We ordered in advance and I still waited 27 minutes in the restaurant. I'm sure my server saw me getting impatient. This time, the sides were not in the bag and I expressed my frustration. I asked to talk to a manager. Manager wasn't available because there was a manager meeting going on. That shouldn't be a statement any patron hears. If someone needs to let management know what's happening and areas for improvement, there should be someone to talk to. This is my therapy, getting this frustration out is necessary because I lost a half hour of my day off AND left in a way worse mood than when I went in. Two disappointing trips in a row and now I feel like the $80 order was way too much for feeling this upset about food.. I'm more upset about the wasted time. If it's going to take the kitchen some extra time to produce bottles of sauce, reflect that in the time estimate, please! I ask that for future customers. We'll be making the drive to Little Creek next time we want...
Read moreI took a few days before writing this review as I was a little too displeased to fairly do so quickly.
My wife, my son and I went there Sunday at 7:00 pm, about a month after opening.
The good: they spent a lot of money on the new place; huge HDTV's surround the walls, front, sides and back. Every possible football game was playing with placards under each indicating the game. A little loud but very cool. It was a large warehouse-like sitting area with a small gaming center at the back, finished concrete floors, and lots of seating ... perhaps too much.
The bad: While they spent all that money on atmosphere, they spent nothing on service for all that seating, far too few servers for the number of customers. Nor did they spend too much on the quality of food.
The place was full, but nobody waiting; we were seated immediately but it was at least 20 minutes before a waiter showed up. He took our drink orders and it was another 20 minutes before he brought them. He had to leave again before taking our order; 19 minutes more passed. My son and wife ordered the wings while I played the maverick and ordered the burger. It took another 30 minutes before it all arrived via another server; ours was nowhere to be seen and our drinks were well past empty. The waiter never came back during the meal to refill.
Wife/son said their wings were okay but neither finished half of a not very large portion; they were being polite. My burger was not from fresh beef; a clearly from frozen patty. The fixings for it were lettuce (which seemed fresh) and what amounted to cheese-wiz. The bread was okay. I think there might have been a pickle in there somewhere. It was too bland to finish.
The cost: The price was reasonable, about $45 for the three of us, but honestly, I'd have paid $50 to have known not to go there. I...
