I have been to this store many times and had a great experience until today. I was coming to buy dog treats and noticed the green conure parrot. I fell in love with this bird and a employee even commented on how well the bird was acting around my 8 yr old son (she mentioned the bird usually runs to the back of the cage when it sees kids). I went to the front and asked the lady if i could see the bird. I commented that I hadn't come in expecting to by a bird but how cool the bird was. She gave me a funny look from a distance but then radioed in that I was interested. I went back to the cage and waited for about 8 mins and researched the bird online while waiting. The lady from the front ended up coming back to the cage and immediately started in how me buying the bird worried her because of my son. I then told her how well the bird was doing with him and she said " because its through the cage". I then told her that I was planning on taking the bird to my shop (I am a small business owner that sees clients daily by appt) and she then said that was too much for the bird. My son was over by the other birds saying and repeating my dogs name and she turned around and told him to Be Quiet. I asked her what he was doing wrong and she said he was repeating. Why does this lady feel she has a right to tell my son to be quiet!!! She then proceeded with excuses on why I wasn't a good fit for the bird and now I am very offended. I.asked her if the bird is so stressed as she claims why is the bird for sale. I can't believe what happened in there today. I told her i do not appreciate you telling my son to be quiet. I feel completely stereotyped and I really feel she was getting anxiety about selling the bird to me (hence the look.she gave me up front and the comment she made to my son). Read moreWorst customer service experience I’ve had in quite a while. I usually do my Petco business at the Gloucester location which is typically great at customer service and I had come out this way to shop at another, locally owned, fish store to replenish my tank. My LFS didn’t happen to have the flame gouramis that I had been hoping to purchase so I stopped by this location and, to my surprise, found 5!!! An employee was in the area with her hands in a tank, cleaning the gravel and another (Christina) had come from the back and crouched in the aisle next to us looking for something (I am assuming she was assisting someone or fulfilling an online order.. not really sure). My husband asked if she could assist us and, without standing or looking up, she replies “that’s your fish lady over there. She can help you” referring to the woman I mentioned earlier that was cleaning tanks. My husband apologetically replies “I’m sorry, I only asked because she looked busy” to which she replied (completely unnecessarily) “welp, I’m busy too but she’s the one you want. She’s the fish lady”. Again, no eye contact or concern. I’ve worked in customer service for over 20 years and I get it, it’s New Year’s Day and you don’t want to be here, top it off with the fact that customers can be rude and condescending and just plain ungrateful. But I’ve NEVER turned away a request for assistance because I was too “busy” to help someone. At a MINIMUM I’ve offered to find them someone to help them .....even if they’re literally standing an aisle away. While I will most likely never have a reason to return to this location, I never would even if I had to. I truly hope Christina feels better tomorrow and either learns some social etiquette or can focus some of her energy into finding a job she’s...
Read moreI gave 3 star before now I am changing to 1 star. I always try not to buy online and go to store but this location doesn't worth to do that. I hope that petco reads this and close this location because at the same day they lost 2 customers. These employees doesn't love their job or not getting paid enough... I always Buy same brand food for my pets and all dog and car foods comes sealed and vacuumed bag. So I got the dog food and paid for it and left to store. when I was putting it to my car I realized that bag wasn't vacuumed and there was air in it. I came back to store in 10 seconds and explained the lady at the register.. First She said that's okay they are always like that then she stopped talking to me and did some hand signs to other lady.. and other lady came to and I explained her. She didn't want me to change the bag ut I told her I am going to return it then she said ''OKAY GO CHANGE'' These people should not be hired or trained very well . Petco Should close this store.. I am Not buying anything from PETCO Just ordered Online Saved more and less headache.. I would not recommend this store and petco... Horrible customer service and they have no idea what they are selling. THey dont care about pets live.. They probably sold that unsealed bag Royal Canin food to someone else... I liked grooming in this place but I will go somewhere else. This is how retail store businesses going down and everybody...
