I was there a few weeks ago. There was only one waitress when I came in and she wasn't very friendly. I sat at the sushi bar and she took my order. As I sat there, I looked at the fish sitting in the sushi bar's display case and regretted my decision to eat there; the fish looked discolored. The sushi chef was talking a bit as he was making my rolls. I ordered the gyoza, which were actually delicious, the Boston roll, which was ok, and something with baked salmon. As I continued to wait I looked in the back where the sushi chef was working. It was not tidy or clean. They had a small toaster oven which was used to "bake" the salmon in (I asked what it was used for). The little door for the toaster oven was open and I could see the inside of it clearly. It was black. The toaster oven was silver and it was covered in grime outside and inside. The toaster oven should have been silver inside as well. Nope, it was black. I'm never going back...
Read moreI went late in the evening. It was dimly lit and had a romantic feel to the place. It was really warm because I couldn't hear the a/c and I only saw a ceiling fan on. I sat near the glass display case close to the kitchen. The was an off-putting smell emanating in the area.
I ordered the vegetable tempura and vegetable rolls. I also had water as my drink. The water came first and it felt like it came from a sink. It was warm and the ice cubes melted in less than a minute. The tempura was cooked perfectly. The inside were soft, but not mushy and the outside was crispy. My vegetables rolls were tangy (I requested no avocado) from the seaweed salad. They were solid.
I don't know if it's always so quiet in there, but the setting is ideal for dates. The food was great. The water wasn't. I'm going to go back to see if the smell is a constant thing and if the a/c isn't working....

Went in on a Friday night the place was dead. Only 1 other table had people. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to come to the table. (They also do not serve alcohol). A can of soda came out with a cup of ice. Had to pour it yourself. Well they forgot one member of our groups drink altogether. We waited forever for our order to be taken. (My husband and I decided to leave because we felt like we were in the twilight zone). Well the friends that stayed ordered and waited forever for their food. Same friend that their drink was forgotten, well his order was forgotten about too. SMH! I highly recommend going to Yama Sushi as their service and atmosphere is wonderful! That’s where my husband and I went to after...
