Polkadot Play — Local services in Virginia Beach

So my experience with the owner Sadie was very unpleasant! I booked my 2 year party with this business. Before I even booked, I went to view the building and upon arrival, i noticed it was relatively small, but because my baby was only 2 I decided to overlook it and help support small businesses. When speaking to one of her staff, I made sure to thoroughly ask all the questions that I needed to ensure that there will be no problems and that my baby party would be a success. One of the questions involved policy concerning decorating. I was ensured that I could decorate however I wanted. I went on to ask about a time slot to come in to decorate prior to the party. I was told that she wouldn't be in until around 1pm and 1:30 and I happily agreed! Not one time did she state that there would be a fee to come in early to decorate! 6 days before my baby party which would have been this Sunday the 27th, I called Sadie to ensure all would be well with everything. When I bought up the time to come in to decorate, she emailed me back stating it would be 50.00 dollars for 30 mins to decorate, or I can come in 5 mins before my party begins to decorate. This was absurd to me because it wasn't communicated with me previously, and, it wasn't stated in the contract neither.. she went on to say that had always been her policy. After explaining to her the conversation between me and her staff, she accused me of lying which was even more offensive and insulting, given the fact that she wasn't neither on the phone or in person when the conversation occurred. She wanted to charge me 250.00 for 3 hours of party when she charges 6.00 per child for 2 hours of play. On top of that, I had very limited space for dining and a place to hold my food and drinks because everything had to be set up in the entryway. Again, I was willing to overlook these things and make way to support, but the treatment I receive from Sadie today was very unprofessional even though I pointed out things not stated in contract, she still wouldn't accommodate and refused to contact me to speak in person. She stated that due to her schedule, she can only communicate via email, and to ensure everything is recorded, but her policy concerning decorating before time wasn't printed anywhere in the clause. She insited that I push my time back after already sending out invites with a given time for party to start. It was very tacky and unprofessional to suggest that. I suggest, anyone who plans a party here to get everything written or typed up, and be sure you record or document everything discussed to ensure there will be no...

My boy has been coming here for 6-8 months. Polk a dot play has been the best thing for him socially, emotionally, and physically. My child was severely behind developmentally and speech wise. Coming here once or twice a week gave me support as a new mom surrounded by supportive staff and other moms while also giving my child a safe and clean place to learn new skills. My son learned to play with others , learned how to climb, learned how to share, and learned how to have a good time playing independently while I watch is awe of my boy growing up before my eyes. For the negative comments saying that the toys don’t have batteries… I have no idea what they are talking about. The toys are always working and when play time is over your supposed to turn off the toys before putting them away. The best part about Polk a dot play (outside of the staff) is the fact that the toy structures are meant to encourage children’s development. Poll a dot play is the place to be! My Cayden will forever be part of the Polk a dot play family. ALSO for the negative comments about the birthday party… there is specific time slot allotted for birthdays so likely you were out of time and trying to linger. I will be having my sons birthday party here when he turns 3 and I have no concerns. This place is a beautiful facility and the staff are supportive but they stay to their boundaries which means they are doing their job and keeping everyone...

Very rude staff and horrible cleanliness. Went to a friends daughters birthday party and was very disappointed in the “staff” . One person was on shift and hid in the back of the building the entire time on her phone . Only came out to rush my friend throwing the party and yelled at her in front of everyone across the room instead of going up to her . She was saying it was currently 4:30 and everyone needed to be out and the place and cleaned up by 5. It was 4:10. The cleaning was a joke . Which she proceeded to do with babies and children in the play area before it was time to leave. Spraying chemicals and exposing outlets to vacuum and had the wire for kids to trip or wrap around them in an unsafe way. She did not warn the parents that she was going to begin cleaning. She did not wipe any toys or surfaces she simply sprayed the air and walked away. The pictures are not updated and the area for setup for food and cake was the size of an extremely small hallway that could only possibly fit up to 8 people at a time. Not including the kids. There was no neat space for shoes to be put before entering the play area. And toys were dirty. DO NOT RECOMMEND this...
