The location has different restaurants in which when you walk in there's one counter with three cashiers. They were busy as it was a Saturday at dinner time. It was our first time at the establishment so we didn't know how things worked. After standing in line we walked up and started to order. Turns out we needed to stand in the middle line to order from The Original Soul Food so we got back in a different line. The menu that you want to order from will be above the cashier you need to order from. I had the 8 jumbo party wings, mac n cheese, green beans. My chicken was the best thing, elbows in mac was a little over cooked, and green beens were as well (little too soft). Husband had Catfish dinner with candid yams and cabbage. He liked the catfish and cabbage but the yams were just a little too sweet for him. Oh and heads up we had to get in another line because the Original Soul Food Cafe didn't have drinks on their menu. The vibe in the place was cool. There's a back section with a bar and tables. The was a DJ setting up in the back. I would suggest you give it a try. We found a table and ate there instead of leaving. The cashiers were nice and half way through the meal we were asked if everything was ok. I would recommend you give them a try. We probably will try them again on a...
Read moreIf you're looking for authentic, good Southern comfort food, look no further than The Original Soul Food Cafe. This place truly lives up to its name, serving up a menu of classic dishes that taste like they came straight from your mommas family kitchen. The mac and cheese is a definite standout—it’s the real deal, creamy and flavorful, and a perfect side for any meal. I also highly recommend the smothered pork dinner and the catfish; both were cooked to perfection and had that deep, rich flavor you only get from true soul food. The portions are generous, so you definitely get your money's worth. While there can be a wait at peak times, it's a testament to how good the food is. The quality and taste are absolutely worth it. If you're in the Virginia Beach area and craving a truly satisfying and delicious meal, this...
Read moreSo, I'm a huge stickler for food. I'm very critical about food. This is what I will say if you're thinking about going here, go! The food is very good and the service is awesome as well. We ordered a decent amount of food 14 chicken wings with fries, a traditional Turkey wing dinner, jerk turkey wing dinner, and catfish dinner. This came up to $87. The chicken was seasoned very well and fried to perfection, if I had any complaints it would be give us a whole wing of that goodness! The macaroni is good. The green beans are good. The yams are good. They're just regular canned yams that are dressed up nicely. Definitely give this place a try. One of the best soul food places we've...
