We brought our son in after it was suggested to bring him to the ER by a pediatric nurse. He was acting out of it and not like himself, puking, and pale. When we brought him in, front desk was very nice, but the nurse that was there treated us terrible, and more specifically towards me. When she came in to take the vitals she snarkily asked, “Well, what’s the emergency tonight?”, as if we were inconveniencing her for bringing our baby in. When we explained the situation she rudely asked, “Well what have you done for him?”, and when my fiancé and I looked at each other like, why is she being like this?, she continued “Pedialyte? Tylenol? Aspirin?” I explained he wasn’t running a fever and couldn’t keep anything down so we hadn’t given him anything, we are first time parents. She then put a glove on and shoved her hand around his mouth checking for teeth and then tried to dismiss it as he is just cutting teeth…. I know my child and I am not dumb, so I know the difference between a child cutting teeth and actually being sick…. When she left we waited awhile while his machine kept going off and nobody came to check why the alarm was going off, so we packed everything up and left and planned to drive to Manhattan ER. When we left the room the nurse was outside and said, “she’s right there” (pointing to the provider) and I said that’s fine but we are leaving. Front desk convinced us to stay and that we would only have to work with the doctor from that point and not the nurse. Front desk and the provider we saw were super nice and very helpful. He ended up having a slight earache and believed to have a stomach bug of some sort. I would give negative stars to the nurse if possible, front desk and provider were awesome. Will not be going back because of the nurse. She should be embarrassed treating people so horribly when we did...
Read moreI went to the ER, I explained symptoms I was having and mentioned to the doctor that I was dehydrated. Without saying a word or explaining what he was doing he went behind me and just lifted up my shirt and told me to take deep breaths, I’m aware Dr was just checking my breathing but at least make me aware of the fact that you are going to do that and tell me why. Then Dr told me to lay down, lifted my shirt again and started pushing hard on my stomach, based on my symptoms I’m sure it was need but ask first. I mentioned I was dehydrated so he checked my skin and my mouth and told me I wasn’t and then proceeded to say “I assume you’re just here to get some fluids” in a annoyed tone, he left the room and talked to the nurse. I shouldn’t be able to hear the Dr and nurse talk about me in annoyed tones but I did. Nurse comes back in with my IV bag for fluids, shocker she couldn’t find a vein in my wrist which only happens when I am DEHYDRATED (I’ve had lots of kidney infections and am fully aware of when I’m dehydrated). Nurse sticks the IV in my hand and starts my drip, I sat there for two hours on the drip and halfway through they wanted a urine sample. I give them the urine sample and get hooked back up to the drip, I get done with the drip two hours later and now they want a stool sample that was never ordered and I was not able to give it to them. I tell them I’m just ready to leave given the fact that I felt no better and was not given any answers on why I was feeling the way I was. I asked for discharge paperwork, sat in the room for fifteen minutes waiting and then decided to walk out to the desk where my discharge paperwork was just sitting while nurse and Dr were talking about nothing to do with their jobs. I signed and took the problems I was having somewhere else. Sorry to inconvenience you Wamego ER! I won’t...
Read moreWe took our son on the late night of 1/3/2022. It was by fast the worst experience ever. We were treated like we didn't know what we were talking about and second guessing everything we said. Our son was slurring his words, swollen tongue, was seeing everything titled so he would start titling his head just to try to walk, and thought his head was upright, and then wasn't able to move his head back upright without crying saying it hurt. He was also throwing up a lot. When we asked him look at us he said he was but his eyes were no where near us and was starting to roll back. He was shaking really bad also and not able to keep his eyes open. He had just gotten out of quarentine from having covid, so we were really worried. It happened earlier in the day and was told by his doctor if it got worse to take him in to the ER( earlier in the day it was only titled vision, slurred words, tingling swollen tongue). He slept for 2 hours and woke up like it was fine, only to get worse 3 hours later. Obviously the second time around was way worse. We told the ER doctor all of this and how the first time it just stopped to be started up again. When I was talking to her she would act like she was falling asleep or rolling her eyes, and talking down to us saying "well parents freak out easy when their kids throw up, they need to relax" when that wasn't my biggest concern. Then everytime I would tell her everything she would cut me off. Then she said "there are other hospitals you could go to" They ended up sending us home. We will never ever go back to that hosptial and make sure everyone we know knows how horrible of an experience it was. Our son deserved...
